If there were an award for “Best Grocery Store Experience,” the Hy-Vee in Newton, Iowa would win it without even breaking a sweat. I’ve never been in a store where every aisle feels like it has its own customer-service guardian angel. The second I look even slightly confused—which, let’s be honest, happens more often than I’d like to admit (I am a man, after all)—someone is right there smiling and asking how they can help.
Coming from a big city of over two million people where getting help in a major grocery chain was basically a myth, this place is a whole different universe. The staff here actually notice you, actually care, and actually help… it’s wild.
Huge shoutout to the entire crew. You’re doing an amazing job, and you’ve turned grocery shopping into something I actually look forward to—confused face and all.

Ordered fruit salad for 50 people. Was told 2 gallon would be enough when order was placed. When I picked up, it didn’t look like enough. Conner in the deli department gave me more fruit salad at no extra cost. He went above & beyond expectations. The employees at this location are always courteous & work hard to make grocery shopping a pleasant experience. Will shop there & order from their deli department again.
