The place was very clean and I was greeted by(as she told me her name when I sat down) Kelly! She took my order quickly and it came out hot and fast. She checked on me frequently to make sure everything was ok. The lemonade is handmade and I think the ranch is also❤️. Prices are decent and the quality of food is very good. Only suggestion is maybe toast the bun on the chicken sandwich to keep it from falling apart!! Onion rings are real onion slices not pieces!! Definitely would eat here again!! Even the cook said “have a great day!” as I left!! ❤️❤️

I ordered a small chicken cheesesteak, like I always do, but when it arrived, it was the size of a Hawaiian roll, had no onions or cheese, and was mostly filled with large chunks of bell pepper. The portion of fries was also much smaller than what I usually get when dining at the restaurant.
Additionally, I ordered fries with two of my meals but only received fries with one. Instead, we received two orders of tater tots.
I’d also like to note that I only took one bite before realizing the sandwich was missing both the cheese and onions.

The sanitation grade was not visible from our seat and after looking around I had to genuinely look it up because it was just dirty. But it has an A. The food was decent, however they were out of several fountain drinks and several ice cream toppings.
The 3 stars comes from a few things, lack of options on the food side, extremely poor/lazy painting (if you can’t paint right, what makes me think you are going to be cleaning correctly) and weird signs visible to the customers. I know that sounds weird.. but hear me out.
This place has a sign for not accepting $2 bills. While hilarious, it sounds so weird to have as a policy, was this really a problem? “I can’t pay my staff with $2 bills” you 100% can. Or… make it a deposit and pay them in other denomination.
Then you could see that the manager wrote on the back door in the “back room” so funny. It looks so lazy, (go back to my first comment about if you can’t take the time to make a printed sign, what makes me think you are going to be cleaning thoroughly)
Our sever was very polite, and the burger was good. But it needs to close down for a few days and invest in the facility.
(Side note: they painted AROUND the pictures and records on the wall)

We have enjoyed eating in the restaurant and the hot fresh food at this location many times but today we were there for more than 40 mins and never got our order… so we left . Why? because they chose to take an over abundance of door dash orders and couldn’t make food for those of us seated in the restaurant . They actually stopped taking any orders after we placed our order . The servers were very kind and refilled our drinks multiple times . But obviously the management has decided Carryout gets priority over dining room orders . We’ve had a few bad experiences at this location but have overlooked it because ultimately they made it right but after today’s experience not sure it’s worth it .

Sadly things here have take a bad turn. I ordered my usual burger, it didn’t have the BBQ sauce on it and the onion ring was missing. I get being out of something, I understand that. It wouldn’t be an issue if I was told while ordering or even after ordering, that way I would have changed my order. It’s just not a Johnboy and Billy Burger without these key ingredients. That was just a regular burger with chilli, mustard and slaw on it. Also the fries have changed, they used to be shoestring fries, now they’re steak fries and they weren’t that fresh. This is extremely disheartening as I really gave this place praise last year.

My first time eating at Hwy 55 last Friday 1/30/26 and I was extremely impressed with the friendly and professional staff. Most fast food I visit, the staff doesn’t seem very happy. Hwy 55 made me feel like family. Thank you..

I have to say I used to really enjoy this place, They used to be called Andy’s, but now they change the name to highway 55 quite a few years back now. Is the some particular reason the Burger tasted off and the Patti did not feel right while eating it. And it’s actually kind of odd for an old fifties style restaurant Not to have root beer In a fountain drink. And whenever you ask about root beer they always mention Dr Pepper as a suitable replacement.

Ive eaten at several Highway 55 locations and even previously when it was Andy’s. The location in New Bern is probably the worst. Always something wrong with the order and the amount of food is weak compared to others. Do better.

I’ve really tried to give this location the benefit of the doubt as someone who’s worked in the food industry for many years. However, this place is just incompetent for lack of better words. I’ve never received an order that was correct, not once. I’ve had to run to the store because my order was wrong and they’re always out of fries. Staff is super unfriendly and it’s really disappointing to have a well loved franchise like this to have absolutely no order and direction or sense of customer service and just simply paying attention.

1st time here in a very long time. Service was great. (New Dude, you’re doing fine. Keep it up.) Hot dogs were great. The Tater Tots were spectacular. Everything was fairly priced. Restaurant was clean. Could be happier. Definitely going back.
