Brought a kids meal with fries. The burger was burnt and dried out. This was at 7:34 pm, take out order. Sat down and got comfortable at home, ready to eat. Bit into burger and it was hard! Returned, arrived at 8:30, voiced my concern and they gave me another one, already done, and it was literally the same. This is not my first visit to hwy 55 and I’ve never had a problem with the food. Returned home for the 2nd time, bit into the burger and it was crunchy. Opened it up….. overcooked and dry again. So much for dinner tonight !

There’s a whole lot of burger places in Whiteville. This Hwy 55 better step up its game before they find themselves closed. I got a shrimp burger yesterday, the shrimp breading tasted burnt and was way darker than it usually is, and there was about 1 tablespoon of slaw on it. They forgot the hot sauce I asked for. I also ordered a Carolina style burger. There was no slaw on that one at all, they must have ran out that day. The place looks abandoned and I hear it’s dirty inside but I always use the drive-thru.

Avoid. Ordered online, arrived to pickup, staff informed me they were out of cheesesteak and had no idea how to refund transaction. Clearly this location and Hwy 55 have gone downhill over the past few years. This use to be a good location. Clearly needs better management and corporate involvement. If can’t improve should close this location.

We spent 50 some dollars for the most pitiful meal ever. We order two big subs and got them on a hamburger bun. So basically the half size for the whole price. It was soggy because it was on a hamburger bun. Chicken tenders were fried hard as hell, and the fries tasted old. Do not recommend. They would not make it right when I pulled back up. Go else where.

⭐️ Highway 55 – Whiteville: Extremely Disappointing Visit
My husband and I stop at Highway 55 locations often as we travel up and down I‑95, and unfortunately this was by far the dirtiest one we’ve ever visited. Right from the start, they were completely out of Coke and several sodas, which was surprising for a place that’s usually well‑stocked.
I ordered the cheesesteak, and there was barely enough meat in it to even call it a sandwich. It was mostly bread with a few scattered pieces of steak. The floors were sticky—something we’ve noticed at many Highway 55 locations, though we still can’t understand why.
What really pushed this location over the edge was the overall cleanliness. There were used cups with leftover drinks thrown on the floor, and a spill or leak that had clearly been there for a while with nothing but a rag tossed on top of it. It was unsanitary and honestly unacceptable for a restaurant.
We will not be returning to this Highway 55. This location needs immediate attention, and I hope management or the Department of Health steps in to address the conditions.

Management needs to be aware of the issues. We had lunch there today and when we walked in there were two tables being used and none of the other tables had been cleaned. Another table was being used employees huddled together in one booth. Instead of being brought menus we were asked if we needed them and we’re informed they were out of a lot of things on the menu. After getting our food I had to go back up to the counter to get refills twice after over 20 minutes of not being checked on. The fries were undercooked, the chicken tenders were overcooked and there was no adult in sight. I went to check out after not receiving a bill and they were all on their phones and not paying enough attention to take me card as I was trying to pay. It was a teenager free for all.

My wife ordered Chicken tenders and onion rings, I got a cheeseburger and fries. The chicken tenders were burnt . The onion rings and fries tasted like they had been cooked in the same oil that the tenders were in as they tasted burnt. Service was terrible. All the employees were leaning on the counter staring at their phones. They seemed more concerned about their social media than actually doing their job and taking care of customers. The tables were dirty , some still had trash on them and the restrooms were absolutely disgusting. We will not be going back.

I ordered on line. Picked it up thru the drive thru. The cheese fries were good but I must have got someone else’s burger.
Really had my mouth set on a good burger. I ordered a hamburger with mustard, ketchup, pickles, onions, lettuce and tomato. Ended up with 1 pickle, not sure on the onions as I couldn’t find any, a drop of mustard and no ketchup. Tomato slice was so thick it fell out when I picked the burger up, and it did have lettuce. It had 2 slices of cheese which I didn’t order and don’t like on a burger. Almost 7 bucks for a burger and I had to doctor it up before eating it. They were not busy at all so this really should have been better.

Waitress was sweet but when the food came out there was no bread with the cheesesteaks. The fillings were just on the plate. When they saw our puzzled looks they added that they were out of cheesesteak buns and offered us toast or hot dog buns. I feel they should have asked us about this before they brought it out on a plate without any bread. Then my husband looked at his burger and there were no tomatoes. When we asked they informed us they were out of tomatoes as well. No communication between the cooks and staff. Dining room and restrooms were dirty. It looked like there wasn’t anyone with any age or experience in charge.

So now we are expected to order ice cream before you come to drive thru. Time waisted coming to the damn window to tell me to order ice cream first. how damn stupid is that. Ice cream is all I ever want from there cuz they let kids cook and play over food. THERE IS NO SIGN THAT SAYS ORDER ICE CREAM OVER THE PHONE FIRST BEFORE COMING THROUGH DRIVE THRU!!
