SO DISAPPOINTED. ☹️
My family has been coming here for about 25 years (and even my grandparents before that) so this isn’t a place we take lightly.
Today, unfortunately, every single piece of fish we were served was burnt to the point of being impossible to cut with a knife. I even tried breaking the batter by hand, and it genuinely took effort. We let them know, and while they did replace it, the attitude during the initial order was abrupt and rude. The replacement fish (pictured) was only slightly less burnt, and at that point I felt compelled to leave a review because the food was simply unacceptable and inedible.
We were also told that extra tartar sauce now costs extra, even though for years they’ve always included an additional packet or two without issue.
On top of that, the restaurant is still not compliant with accessibility laws. For anyone with special needs, accessing the place would be nearly impossible, yet we kept coming back because the food used to be worth it.
This is how long-time, loyal customers are lost.

Steps away from the beach, what impressed me was that if, while you waited for your meal, you decided to wait outside at the beach or in the parking lot, your receipt number was announced over the PA speaker outside.

I always love places like this. Simple food, but the beach outside and the vibe inside is everything that matters! Ordered fish and chips. It’s good just like we expected.

My 1st time there, I waited at picnic table as a friend stood in line. Yes, expect a line as it’s a busy place. Food will take 20 minutes or so, be prepared. But it’s worth it!!! We had fish & chips, probably one of their most popular items on the menu. Large portions of Homemade cut fries with huge pieces of fish, and suggest you get the coleslaw. Lots of outdoor sitting as well, not sure of seating inside as I didn’t go in. The experience was definitely worth it!!!

Wow if it’s soggy fries ya want this is the place to go. The fish is another story. Definitely more soggy batter than fish. Been coming here since a little girl but this is by far the worst food ever. More batter than fish that’s for sure. A heart attack waiting to happen. No I will not return sad to say. Parkdale fish n chips way way better.

The restaurant setting is very classic from ordering the food cashier, handwritten menus, burgers fries and gravy plus fish and chips are very tasty, the dining room from the wall to floor decorating with black / brown & white old fashion design and the comfy cushion seats and dining table are Very traditional English style!
Plus the owner was hanging the photos took from many years ago, that they sponsored and supported the local community youth sport clubs .
Also Don’t need to tell how tasty this restaurant would be, and you will be tell when you arrived to park your car outside the restaurant and the customers had long line up from outside the door to inside ordering the food!
Love this restaurant and definitely will come back again next time! Yum

We have been going to this place for many many years without issue….until today! (We live in St. Catharines) I ordered the 1-piece fish and chips which usually takes about 8-10 minutes to come out, today was out in less than a minute with 2 packets of tarter sauce. I asked for 2 more and was told that they were 10 cents each if I wanted more. Are you kidding me Hutches? Very reluctant to ever return to this petty place!

Have to get the fish and chips here. The chicken fingers are so good too. Fries are done so well. Very reasonably priced items and good portions. Outdoor seating available. Friendly staff and super fast kitchen. Like the older interior. Can be a little messy in the restaurant and washrooms in the summer when busy. Like the artwork on the building outside.

I ordered a Veggie burger and a salad. The burger was okay, salad, plain and overloaded with croutons.
Even though my partner’s fish and chips look good in the picture, it was so greasy.
We went there with 3 other people, they got their order and ours came at least 20 minutes later. So our service was very slow. My only perk for the bad service and greasy food was the ice cream and the view. I gave an extra star for that

That’s a nice place to stop by in the summer, right on the beach. We were there with my friends on Saturday lunch time so it was pretty busy, your order might take around 10-15 min to be served. Diner is big and clean, very traditional North American style. It was full of families with noisy kids, but you could take your meal to go and enjoy it on the beach.
The quality of the food is quite consistent with its price, which is pretty affordable.
