The food was excellent. The Huch 2-stack pancakes with eggs, turkey bacon, and Hennessy syrup were a great choice. The blackened shrimp & grits with oxtail was outstanding 10/10. The pineapple ginger juice and Baileys cake were also highlights. Service was attentive, gratuity is included, and while street parking can be tough, the experience was well worth it.
First time here and was directed to the Happy Hour menu. Once I saw oxtail as an option for the tacos… ’nuff said. Absolutely delicious, well executed, just the right amount of heat and savory spices. Every bite was a taste explosion.

The ambiance was really nice—very clean and stylish, with amazing music that really set the vibe. I ordered the rum punch, and while it was definitely strong, it was also really good. I also had the Kingston fries, which were super tasty and flavorful.
We ordered both drinks and food, and got our appetizer fairly quickly. But then we ended up waiting over an hour for our main dishes, with no updates or mention of a delay or short staffing. That was disappointing. Especially because we noticed other tables who came in after us were being served their meals before we were.
Ultimately, we decided to leave because the wait was just too long. It was frustrating, especially considering how empty the place was. The food and atmosphere have a lot of potential, but the service experience really affected the our brunch.
To their credit, they did void our bill because of the delay, which we appreciated. The place has great potential—the vibes, drinks, and appetizers were solid—but better communication would’ve made all the difference.
Maybe we’ll give it another try in the future and see if the experience is better with improved communication.
I recently visited Hush restaurant and lounge after a friend insisted we go there, she’s a regular and had nothing but glowing reviews about the place. Although I had another restaurant in mind, I agreed to meet her at hush, arriving at 4:13 PM (the restaurant’s posted opening time was 4 PM).
Initial Red Flags:
The doors were still locked when we arrived. A staff member wiping the windows had to ask permission to let us in, definitely not the most welcoming start. Once inside, we were the only customers, which was fine, but things quickly took a turn.
Unprofessional Management & Inconsistent Service:
Our waiter, Roshaun, took our drink orders, and I requested an iced coffee after seeing several being made. However, we were told by the manager/owner that we couldn’t have one! apparently, they’re only served during Sunday brunch. Later, it was clarified that those were for the staff. That alone felt like a slap in the face as a paying customer.
When I tried ordering a different drink, I was told it wasn’t available either. It didn’t stop there, my original food order (jerk chicken) wasn’t available due to lack of prep from the previous day. I had to settle for whatever they did have, even though the full menu was still being presented.
Long Wait & Misplaced Priorities:
We waited over an hour for our food. Meanwhile, the manager/owner was busy on his phone the entire time. To add insult to injury, 2 guests who arrived an hour after us received their food first, including the manager himself.
Bright Spots:
Despite all the issues, there were a few highlights:
• Roshaun (our waiter) was attentive and kind, consistently checking in on us.
• Lani (bartender) made a great drink.
• Chef Gavin personally apologized and even gave me a sample of the jerk chicken I originally wanted.
Final Thoughts:
The food was actually good, but the poor management, long wait, and lack of transparency left a sour taste. I likely won’t return, there are too many other places where I can spend my money and feel appreciated as a customer ♀️
The moment you walk in, the stylish decor sets the mood.
The food? Absolutely delicious and authentic Jamaican cuisine.
The mac & cheese was creamy with the perfect crust, the jerk chicken packed bold flavor, and the oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender.
Every dish was a hit!
Big shoutout to Michelle, my bartender—friendly, fast, and on point. Mary, the maître d’, made sure everything ran smoothly, and Chris from management checked in with genuine hospitality.
The staff made the whole experience even better.
While they no longer take call-in takeout orders, waiting at the bar while vibing to great music and sipping a cocktail made it more than worth it.
The energy in the place is just right.
If you haven’t been—go. If you’ve been—go again. Hush is definitely on my go-to list.
