The Bánh Cành Cua was so flavorful and full of crab meat, pork blood, meat, quail eggs, and such a comforting broth. Came with fried dough sticks too. Such good value too at around $14!
The catfish and pork claypot was so addicting and paired so nicely with rice. Some might say it’s too sweat but I personally love it.
Please come check this place out!
There is a HEFTY amount of protein in every dish and not a crazy amount of noodles or rice like other places do. Nhiêu thịt và vừa vừa bún hoặc cơm.
Bún bò Huế – FAMILY FAVORITE
Bánh Canh Cua – what I ate last night
Hu tiểu nam van BOTH DRY AND WET version (dry version is secret menu item)
Phở – better than any other pho places in Dorchester. Trust me.
The best part? Reasonably priced and small tight menu.
Small menu means their pantry is limited which means it is most likely fresh all the time. Huyết is so fresh there – I hate the taste of old huyết so the fact that I can eat this is proof in the (blood)pudding (pun intended for my bilingual friends out there)
And to finish it off? I brought my mother here after and to my surprise the chefs came and recognize my mother. The chef asks about my mom’s MOM. Guys I’m 30 and this older lady recognizes my mom from when she was younger. I guess she has roots in our hometown and she knows my grandma. Small world.
But that’s why the food is so good. These are Vietnamese grandmothers bringing the taste of home, here.
Your support won’t be be in vain – the food is delicious.
Cons: difficult to find parking spot during busy time
I ordered the bun bo hue ($14.95) and spring rolls w/shrimp and pork ($5.95). This all arrived within 5 minutes.
The bun bo hue had decent portion size and nice springy rice noodles. The funky spiciness that sets it apart from other noodle soups, however, seemed absent. It takes like slightly spicier pho, instead of the robust funky flavor I expected.
The spring rolls had decently fresh rice paper and vermicelli. The shrimp also had a nice bite.
I’ll probably come back and try their pho and seafood. That seems promising.
