Absolutely fantastic food and service at hunters on jay , went there seeking human companionship, found an absolute gem , very comfortable place with great partons & and amazing bartender!
Wings were hot crispy & fantastic, turkey club sandwich speaks for itself! , had a wonderful selection of craft beers on tap, I would recommend this place to anyone in Schenectady looking for a great atmosphere great service and fantastic food on a Friday night.
Walking in the door a stranger and being made to feel like a regular highly valued weekly customer, was an experience I have not often found anywhere in the restaurant Industry.
This place deserves 10 stars ⭐ and I can only give 5 .
This place is amazing and the staffing & ownership is stellar , if your in the area and looking for great food & service stop by Hunters on Jay!

I would have gave this place a 5 star if it were jst based on service (some of the best and friendliest bartenders/servers I’ve ever seen) and I’m sure it’s a great place to have some drinks or a beer. But do not go there for the food. I had a long wait for my next Amtrak connection and ordered a soda (very flat) and chicken tenders which were not great but the real complaint I have is that the blue cheese I had with my tenders was sooo spoiled. That’s unacceptable

I don’t know how people are rating this bar so high. It’s a dive bar, and a very popular one at that. The bartop is sticky, crumbs and food still on it from the night(s) before, beer served in plastic cups, and the smell…the last time I was there it smelled like a cat peed in there.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been there many times, because it can be a very fun dive bar. But in no way is it deserving of 5 stars for the atmosphere or food. Service is good, with only a couple of full-time/regular bar staff.

Another Sunday adventure into Schenectady found me at Hunter’s on Jay. So glad I stopped. Had heard about the beer selection and good food. Did not disappoint! 20 taps and many of them local. Tried an array of different beers; from sours to stouts. Ordered the wings with hot and garlic parm mixed. They were delicious. Crispy, saucy and spicy. Zach the bartender was incredible! Extremely personable and very beer saavy. He made me feel at home as well as the customers there ranging in age from younger to older. Great “secret” neighborhood spot. Will definitely be back to try more menu items and beers.

This place is a very good dive bar! They have multiple TVs for sports. The service is friendly, attentive, and fast. Hunters has a very good craft tap list and full bar. The food is typical bar food, plus they have hand tossed pizzas. If you are in the Little Italy part of Schenectady and you want a good spot, go here!

Can’t believe it took me this long to find this place. Amazing tavern with an outstanding tap selection. Jay behind the bar was awesomely friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back!

Friendly, cozy, neighborhood bar. Zach the bartender is great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Both times we have been in we sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with him. Menu is small but yummy. They grill the wraps so they are crispy on the outside, one of the best wraps I’ve had. Will definitely go back!
