AUGUST 2024: Quick lunch before hitting the road. Ordered 2 chicken fingers, 1 hive sauce, and a banana milkshake for $10.67 total. Food was good and reminiscent of a Raising Cane’s, but the chicken was seasoned better here. Also, there was a wider variety of sauces when comparing Hunny Bee’s to their competitor.
PROS:
* Good food. The chicken fingers were fried crispy and seasoned well, but not too salty. The shake was good, as well.
* Service was okay. I got my food relatively quickly after ordering, and it was fresh.
* Plenty of seating inside the restaurant.
* There is plenty of parking behind the University food Plaza.
* There is a drive-thru for quick service
CONS:
* IDK. I was expecting whole fried chicken wings instead of chicken fingers. No chicken wings or wing dings here, which is not an issue.
SUMMARY: I will be back whenever in town.

I decided to give Honey Bee’s Chicken a try, drawn in by the promise of that timeless Southern combo — chicken and waffles. The place itself made a good first impression: clean environment, plenty of open seating (granted, there was only one other diner), and a respectful, courteous staff.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the warm welcome. My order of chicken and waffles arrived looking promising, but the experience quickly went downhill. The chicken tenders were so overcooked they felt more like bubble gum than golden, juicy fried chicken — a real jaw workout. The waffle, on the other hand, was undercooked, leaving it soggy and doughy instead of crisp and fluffy.
To make matters worse, for $13, I received two small tenders, one waffle, and a sweet tea — not quite the hearty “chicken and waffles” experience I expected. The sweet tea, to its credit, was the highlight of the meal — perfectly sweet and refreshing.
In short, while Honey Bee’s Chicken gets points for cleanliness, customer service, and great tea, the kitchen needs serious recalibration to match the quality their prices suggest.

We tried to go last night just after 10pm after an event downtown. Hours listed are until 11pm, but disappointingly the dining room was already closed/locked and we had already parked and walked around to the front. It was very cold outside and we wanted to sit in a warm place and enjoy our food, so we went across the street to Chipotle instead.

Hunney Bee’s is consistently good. Especially at the Brown St location. I think they outperform other chicken places in quality of meat and flavor. If you havent given them a shot, I definitely recommend.

Best was low sodium fries and less marination on chicken, so that we can enjoy chicken and not marination. Chicken was little salty but with less salty fries it was giving perfect combination. I felt fries to be little less warm but my partner felt they were ok.

I would certainly state that this is a worthy competitor to Cane’s! Starting with great customer service, I ordered the Hun Bun Deal, and was quite satisfied with the amount of food I got! The fries were freshly made, lightly salted, the chicken sandwiches were convenient to eat in the car and the chicken was quite good! But what really made it stand out were the sauces. Their classic was certainly comparable to Cane’s, but their hot honey was fantastic. Looking forward to trying out their other sauces!
