I love this restaurant! The owners and staff here are so friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and big-portioned. They sell their own Thai Chili hot sauce which I use at home all the time. They have a nice special every week or two with some fun experimentation. Wholeheartedly recommend! I think I’ve come here about 10 times in the last 3 months

Cute little shop! Really fresh ingredients and a crossroads of cuisine. The cold rice noodle bowl was delicious. Even the tomatoes were so vibrant and flavorful. Taste and quantity appropriately priced. I did not eat inside, but the atmosphere reminded me of a quick stop ramen bar with an open kitchen.

We found this place while driving through SLO. The small selection of dishes benefits from the mix-and-match style of building your meal. I had the Thai Green Curry with tofu (on the recommendation of the friendly gal behind the counter) and my husband ordered a chicken Bahn mi. We found both to be delicious and Hungry Mother is definitely on our list of places to return to next time we are in SLO. While the seating options are very limited, it worked for us and somehow fit the slightly quirky but friendly vibe.

One of the best new additions to SLO’s food scene. The dishes are very fresh and flavorful, the staff and ownership is very nice and welcoming, and the space is light filled and fun to hang out at. I just discovered hungry mother this week and have only tried the rice bowl with lemongrass chicken and the rice bowl with seared shrimp, and both are excellent. Definitely plan on making this a regular lunch spot.

Casual counter service spot with bright, fresh, Asian flavors (and more). Got the bahn mi, a bag of zapps, and a bottle of green tea. Came in a bit over 20 bucks, but you can easily have a great meal here for under 20.
The sandwich was divine. Soft baguette with a light crust, crunchy veg with a not too strong pickle tang with the peppery cilantro (I’m not the biggest cilantro fan but it was perfect). I chose the roast pork, which with how tender and incredibly juicy it was seems like the obvious choice. I didn’t miss the paté usually found in bahn mi’s and I thought I would. The pictures don’t easily capture the robust portion either. I’m a big hungry guy and I left comfortably full and happy from Hungry Mother. Every table was full when I came in, but one opened up before I finished my order. Come and try this great new spot.

Our family’s new favorite spot for a quick bite. High quality ingredients and fresh food. You can tell the difference that this place uses simple, home cooked ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised they could do wheat and soy free, and it was delicious!

Such a delicious banh mi. Got it with the slow roasted pork and it was so tender, juicy and flavorful. And the baguette was perfection. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the other dishes. Everything coming out looked fresh and delicious. Staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is cute with lots of indoor/outdoor seating options.

Wow! Blown away with how tasty our food was! We ordered a few things to share after seeing a recommendation on Central Coast Foodies. I got the lemongrass chicken bahn mi and my husband got the pork bahn mi. We shared the chicken on a stick too and ordered the lemongrass green curry special for lunch the next day! The bahn mi was perfect, the bread was amazing and it was loaded with yummy chicken and veggies. The curry is heavenly, the lemongrass flavor is really prominent and the texture of the curry is super silky and smooth. Absolutely will be back!!
