I always tell my kids “if it works, don’t fix it” at the same time “be adventurous to try new things”. It may not work with eating out, find new restaurants to try, but sometimes it’s good to stick with some restaurants we’re already happy with, especially locally.
My daughter came back to visit from NY, she’s craving for Korean BBQ, we normally go to Real Korean restaurants to have Korean food, sometimes we want to try many dishes with one price AYCE. GEN in Fremont was our favorite, we went there many times. Since we experienced hot pot like Shabuya, we don’t go to BBQ any more.
Since my daughter like to try new things, we found this one on Yelp with 4.5 stars, so we thought it’s better than GEN because the price is higher $44 compares to $31. We’re totally disappointed, not sure how all these high scores are on here.
One thing I don’t like to go where there are 2 prices $44 and $55, if we chose $44, we’re second rate customers LOL and it shows with the quality of the meats.
1. 4 of us can only order 5 plates of little meats each.
2. We have to wait until the plates get to us before we can use the digital touch screen at our table.
3. Each time it took a long time for the orders to get to us, we told the server and he said it was busy. I was joking if you only give me 90 minutes to eat and each order took 5 minutes we may not have time to finish our meal. After that the orders seemed to come faster.
4. We like briskets and they’re don’t look like brisket, extremely tough and not much fat.
The bulgogi cuts with chunks of beef like leftover pieces of meat cuts from a big one, the marinate is worse than I made at home. More chewy than less flavorful than Costco bulgogi.
The BBQ ribs with all the fats and also tough.
The meats are so tough that our kids have to order beef belly and pork belly with all the fat so they can’t be tough.
My chicken wings appetizers are crispy but so salty and the shrimp tempura are tasteless.
I ordered the beef broth soup, one spoon and I returned it, salt and water with a little flavor of Pho.
My son only ate kimchi fried rice and pot belly, some bulgogi that we ordered the first time.
Ah, we got some ice cream for dessert, that’s a plus.
$200 for 4, I told my kids that we should go to “REAL” Korean restaurant to get quality Galbi and Bulgogi still wouldn’t cost this much for 4.
So, I’m not sure what’s the different with the $55 premium, but poor people like us, definitely don’t get the good stuffs.
We all voted for 2 stars, my daughter said in NY, it cost $45 but the quality is so much better and services too.

First time eating here and it won’t be our last. There’s a 90 min time limit on the all you can eat menu. We chose the Signature option for our luncheon meal. It was more than enough for how much food we could eat. The usual vegetable Banchan and white rice were there to complete our Korean meal. The hero of our food was a seemingly endless meat options. We tried everything from beef short ribs, belly and fingerlings. Pork belly, lamb, brisket, spicy pork, octopus, and tempura shrimp didn’t disappoint. Everything tasted good especially with the triple sauce that was given with the meal. We also opted for the lettuce and rice paper to bring depth and texture to our meats. Sure we had to cook our own meats but the staff made sure our grill was always clean and are operating at optimum levels. In the end, we also had fruit and ice cream, also included with our meal. I highly recommend this place.

Great food and quick service. There was wait for 15 mins on weekend. I love the quality of meat. The bone marrow and the guava soju were amazing. Great vibe. They had a free ice cream candy as well.

I was a walk-in and given a table before the restaurant started getting a bit busier. The inside is chic, and the tables are nicely spaced apart so it doesn’t feel cramped or crowded. Parking was also easy to find.

My server, Brandon, was personable, polite, and patient. I don’t think I’ve ever had a server take the time to cook for me no matter how slow a restaurant was, so that was a cool experience! He gave specific recommendations on the menu, paced the flow of my dining experience well (drinks, appetizers, checked in with me about wait times, ensured comfort, explained the menu), and anticipated my unspoken needs (extra sides, water, dessert, etc).

His recommendation of the bone marrow was a hit, it wasn’t overly salty like how I’ve tasted other locations. Definitely try it.

It has been a while since I’ve had such great service, and he definitely made my evening and overall experience at Hungry Cow better. Brandon V. was amazing!

Had to post on Google as well for the pleasant experience. Thanks!

Edit: I didn’t catch the hostess’ name but she was also sweet and informative. Thank you!

You only can be seated when everyone in your is here .

Only two options to choose from $47 (signature ) PP or $59 (premium ) PP. Both options include meat and seafood (shrimp, and scallop).

The premium option has lots more better cuts of meat and both options are all you can eat!

The service is also very, very good. The waiter will help to start your cooking and quickly deliver what you ordered or reordered with great smile and courtesy!

This is the great place for the meat lovers which what we are!

Unfortunately, first one star meal in a long time.

Two of us ate here around 8:30PM.

We ordered:
2 premium set $59/ea
yogurt soju $16
hazy ipa $7.50

The few highlights:
-has rice paper
-woodae galbi was decent
-nicer ambiance? has TVs for sports games

List of lowlights:
-brisket is inedible, worst brisket I’ve had…no fat content to it. Dry piece of meat, essentially leather like
-oily floors, everyone is slipping and sliding
-bone marrow (one per group) not very good either
-could only order one woodae galbi at a time…so you had to wave down staff each time..makes sense to limit eating time for the pricier item on a business aspect, but super annoying and not communicated obviously
-forgotten items, had to ask multiple times

Unfortunately, missing on a premium set for brisket is a huge red flag. Ordered multiple and checked with staff to make sure this was the two briskets offered.

Won’t be back.

I’ve been here a couple of times. Hungry Cow is a solid reliable KBB option in the Fremont area.

l have yet to be disappointed. My second time around the service was even better. Our waitress Nora was on point. She was super nice and always on top of everything without being intrusive or overbearing, as was the rest of the staff.

Hungry Cow is a good size venue with ample amount of stating. The decor is very reminiscent of the night life in modern Asia, plenty of neon signs and lots of color. There is a full bar available as well. One of my favorite quirky things about Hungry Cow is the Robot that brings you food…very unique at the moment. I’m sure that will change in the future with rising labor costs as well as the cost of living. Parking can be a pain, especially when it gets busy. The parking lot is too small for a bunch of popular venues.

We opted for the PREMIUM SET at $59. It’s the more expensive option and includes items like Roasted Bone Marrow, Short Rib and Scallops. The food was very good; think of Gen, but higher quality. Almost everything came out very fast. They did forget a few items, they never came. However, when we inquired Nora took care of everything. No worries, no dramas. I would recommend making reservations, this place gets packed. There were folks waiting when we left.

I’d come back if I was in the area, it’s a bit further than I’d like to drive…

Pros:
– not crowded at all for lunch on a weekday
– friendly workers
– bone marrow was good ($5 more)
– desserts were good
– rice paper was good
– japchae was good
– marinated lamb was good
– short ribs were good
– garlic pork belly was good
– good robot server

Cons:
– $35/person for lunch on a weekday with their signature menu (not premium) is still pricy for what you get compared to other K BBQ competitors in the area
– edamame was cold
– corn cheese had too much mayo and not enough cheese
– beef brisket and beef belly were too rubbery even after cooking to different temperatures

My recommendation:
– If you’re getting their signature menu, you might be better off going somewhere else for cheaper. I don’t think it’s worth it.
– If you’re locked in for this K BBQ spot, go all in and go with their premium menu for about $15 more per person.

Delicious and the wonderful and attentive staff, shout-out to Kate, was the icing on the cake. She was super on top of it fr! She checked in on us an appropriate amount of times and changed our grill so frequently that it was almost never even 15% black on the grill. I think this spot is super great for ayce kbbq beginners and don’t forget to hit up the complementary desserts and sides!

Everything was great but the meat marbling could be better though. Some cuts of meat you get are so lean that if you accidentally overcooked it, it’s like chewing through tire. But that bone-in one was delicious!
