Huncho’s Tacos carries all the hallmarks of a promising hidden gem tucked into a separate wing of a gas station, a setting that any seasoned taco hunter knows can signal something special. And to their credit, the food delivers. The barbacoa and carne asada tacos were well-executed: bold, layered flavors served at the proper temperature, which speaks to a kitchen that understands the fundamentals.

Both orders arrived with guacamole, a thoughtful touch; however, only one order included salsa. Whether this was an oversight or an inconsistency in the plating process, it’s worth addressing for the sake of consistency in the guest experience.

On the service side, there is room for improvement. Upon arrival, I waited at the counter unacknowledged despite being in clear view of staff. It wasn’t until I initiated the interaction that someone came to take my order. In a counter-service format, attentiveness is everything. A simple greeting goes a long way. That said, once the order was placed, the kitchen turned it around impressively fast.

Huncho’s Tacos has real potential. The food alone is worth the visit, but tightening up the front-of-house attentiveness and ensuring consistency in order preparation would elevate this spot from a good find to a must-visit.

Huncho’s Tacos on Highway 6 in Sugar Land is easily one of the best taco spots in the area especially if you appreciate authentic Tijuana style tacos. Everything we tried was fresh well seasoned and made with care and the fact that it is halal makes it even better.

We went all in and tried the torta and every taco option carne asada pollo asado al pastor and ribeye and each one delivered. The Tijuana style tacos really stand out simple no nonsense perfectly grilled meat warm tortillas and toppings that let the flavor speak for itself. The ribeye was especially tender and flavorful and the al pastor had the perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet.

Beyond the tacos the birria ramen was rich and comforting the carne asada torta was massive and packed with flavor and the beef quesadilla was cheesy crispy and satisfying. Portion sizes are generous across the board.

The sauces deserve a shoutout too. The green sauce is flavorful with little to no heat while the red sauce is spicy and brings a solid kick without overpowering the food. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming which made the experience even better.

They just opened so be patient with the staff because they are clearly putting in the work and the quality is already there. Friendly people great energy and consistently high quality make this spot a go to in Sugar Land.

If you are looking for Tijuana style halal tacos done right Huncho’s Tacos is a must visit.

I’m not a big taco connoisseur, but this was amazing. Service was great, guy at the front was patient and very helpful because I wanted to get 1 of each. I got one al pastor, one Carne asada and 1 ribeye. Some of the best food overall I have ever eaten in my life. Ingredients were fresh, each taco was flavorful and distinct and paired amazingly with the 2 salsas they have available. I washed it all down with a hibiscus Agua Fresca which was very light and refreshing. I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

I’ve been to this place at least 3 times and they are still in the soft opening phase. The birria ramen, al pastor tacos, ribeye tacos, quesobirria… It’s all really, really good. The desserts and the drinks as well. I’m excited for the nachos and to see what else comes on the menu because I know it’ll be fantastic too. Everything is made in house and you can tell the ingredients/ meat is of high quality.

The owners are really friendly, and it seems like a really nice group of people who work there. I can tell they’ve already improved and fixed the long wait times (which even then the end product was still worth the wait)

Would highly recommend to give them a try !

Tacos are pretty decent. The way they pack them they are not shy about putting meat in them! Very delicious. Highly recommend. My husband had the torta and that was so good too; the cheese they used and avocado fantastic! They are doing their thing here!

Probably the best place to get halal Mexican food and a have chance to try out different types of food.
Flavor is missing a bit in the meats, sauces could use a little kick to them. They are generous with the meat and offer in-house drinks!

Went to @hunchostaco for some authentic Tijuana style tacos, New Restaurant in Sugar Land TX, currently in there soft opening phase. we tried a few different items, Ribeye Tacos, Carne Asada Tacos, Pollo Asado Tacos, and the Pollo Asado Torta. Everything was phenomenal, fresh tortillas, great portion size, perfectly seasoned and flavorful, favorite items was the Ribeye Tacos. Definitely will be back for the ribeye Tacos and other items on the menu.

We tried the carne asada tacos and the ribeye tacos.

The carne asada tacos were good overall. Decent portion size and the meat was seasoned well, not overdone or bland.

The ribeye tacos were the clear winner. Great seasoning and they come with cheese and grilled onions. I would come back just for the ribeye tacos alone.

Only downside was the music being a little too loud, especially since they don’t have a PA system to call out orders. Other than that, solid spot.

i drive further toward katy for tijuana style tacos so i figured i’d try this place for something more convenient. not bad but not good. everything was ok to me. i will say, i ordered individual tacos that did not come with avocado/guac on so it’s possible that was the missing component to take things to the next level. however, i don’t think the price necessarily matches the quality/taste. the ribeye was cooked fine and the grilled taste, grilled onions & sauces added to the flavor but, as other reviews mentioned, the flavor of the meat itself was mid :/ can’t say i recommend it off the strength. however, people sensitive to salt may appreciate this. also the jamaica was ok. not bursting with flavor but not nasty. similar to the tacos.
