Huncho House Restaurant – Hyattsville, MD – OpenTable
Reviews
We kicked things off with the deviled eggs, and the bacon jam they used was a seriously great touch. That appetizer was a hit.
For mains, we ordered the lobster ravioli and the Hawaiian ribeye steak.
The steak came out perfectly cooked—exactly the temp I asked for, which is a big relief when you’re shelling out $65 for it. But the ravioli was kind of a letdown. It was basically just regular cheese ravioli with a lobster sauce poured over it, not actually filled with lobster meat like I expected.
My final thought? The prices are pretty high for what they offer and especially for where the place is located—that was a bit of a surprise. It was good, but maybe a little too expensive for the overall experience.
I was a little dissapointed by the front of House, the table wobbled and when they called to confirm my reservation there was no mention of the AC being broken which made the beginning of the meal a bit uncomfortable.
We spent about 180 with no alcohol.
The food was the true standout. Each dish was beautifully presented and even better tasting. The flavors were balanced, fresh, and clearly crafted with care. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do. My meal was so good I found myself thinking about it the next day, which is always the sign of a great restaurant.
Service was exceptional. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being overfamiliar. They anticipated needs before I even had to ask, and everything arrived at the perfect pace.
What impressed me most was the consistency: great food, great service, great ambiance. It’s rare to find a place that excels in all three, but this restaurant absolutely does.
I’ll definitely be returning, and recommending it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.
Our server nailed it, and the dishes came out fast—no endless waits, just pure flavor and good energy all night long. If I had to nitpick, the space was a little tight, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time.
Definitely a spot to keep on your must-visit list-It.
Asian tempura Shrimp – huge shrimp cooked to perfection in a tai chili sauce I believe. 5stars
Crab Cake – wife said it was delicious, and looked amazing. 5stars
Hawaiian Ribeye – I was skeptical, never had an Hawaiian steak before. Was AMAZING!!!! Cooked to perfection amazing flavor. FIVE STARS!!!
MASH POTATO- 5 Stars
Spicy Broccolini- 5 stars
Service – top notch as well, overall great place. As others mentioned a little small in the inside but some of the best food I have ever had didn’t miss.
First of all, I just want to say that the restaurant itself is not huge, but it’s very intimate and it’s designed extremely well.
Second, the young ladies at the front are so kind and sweet. They greet you and you can tell they genuinely are happy to be there. The champagne at the door doesn’t hurt either! Lol.
Third our server, Shakira, AHHHMAZING!! I truly hope she sees this review and I think she’ll know exactly who posted this. We loved her so much that we tipped her on top of the tip. She made the best recommendations (although everything on the menu looked delicious!). But she was so good at describing the dishes and the flavor that they gave. She was also great at making drink suggestions and we both loved everything that we tried that night. Beyond that, her personality was just giving that girl! She’s sweet and funny too!
Fourth, I know that I said that Shakira made great recommendations, but let me break down the dishes that we had. I had the branzino and my best friend had the salmon. For our appetizers, we shared the shrimp, eggrolls, and THE JERK LOLLIPOPS (LAWWWD). Let me tell you that with those jerk lollipops, you really could just get a side of rice and be good! For those dishes to be appetizers, they were such great portions. Also, I could appreciate that for the shrimp appetizer, they gave an even amount so that there wasn’t an extra shrimp lingering around while the people at the table have to figure out who’s going to eat it or heaven forbid, cut it in half .
Fifth, the drinks. Beautiful! Smelled amazing! And the tastes… delicious. They were also well-made. You didn’t feel like you were missing out on the liquor, but it also wasn’t an aggressive flavor. You could actually enjoy the taste and the theme of the drinks.
10/10. GO! You’re welcome.
The standout dish was the oxtail lasagna (limited item) — rich, savory, and full of bold, comforting flavors. I also enjoyed the Caesar salad, which was fresh and perfectly dressed, a crisp complement to the rest of the meal.
But the real star? The chargrilled oysters. They melted in my mouth like butter and were incredibly flavorful — easily some of the best I’ve ever had.
From the warm hospitality to the unforgettable food, Huncho House delivered a top-tier experience. I’ll definitely be back!
