First of all, I might be more critical since I came from China and I have developed an acquire taste for authentic Chinese food.
Overall I think Hunan Village is a good place to satisfy your cravings for Chinese food. Please note that Lunch Specials are very good deals since they are under ten dollars and come with an Egg Rolls and Fried Rice. It is even offered on weekends.
Dragon & Phoenix was very expensive, it is basically half shrimp and vegetables with half of the General Tao’s Chicken. General Tao’s Chicken was actually pretty tasty. Imperial Chicken has a good amount of chicken and mixed vegetables. The chicken was very tender, but the whole dish was slightly bland for my taste. I wouldn’t recommend the Moo Shi Pork, it is nothing special, and the wrap was breaking apart since they weren’t heated properly. Do not order the Boneless Spareribs, it wasn’t the spareribs, rather it was cut up Chinese BBQ pork with lots of sweet sauce. I did not like it. The Fried Meat Dumplings was pretty good, I liked the meat filling. Shrimp Tempura was good. Chicken on the Stick was not the best, I probably should ordered the Beef on the Stick.
English speaking waitress knows the menu well enough to give you recommendations.
Even though I didn’t order it while I was there, but I think Pu Pu Platter would be a good appetizer to try and it would impress your date.

We always got Egg Fu Yung. It was flavorful and enough to take home. We usually ate inside.
On a to go order, it was ready when I got there and equally tasty.
On credit card transactions there is a 3% surcharge, so best to pay cash, even if you have to stop at an ATM.
Prices are reasonable for good quality food and ample servings.
There is another Chinese place in town – not nearly as good.

Food was excellent!! I had the sesame chicken and she had the sesame shrimp. Both done to perfection!! If empty plates can tell the story, then there you go!! Waitress was prompt and polite and kept everything perfect without hovering. We will be back. (Note: we had the lunch sized portions and still had some to take home. ).

We have enjoyed Hunan Village for many years. Even driving way out of our way to enjoy their sesame chicken. Now that we live closer, it is a weekly stop for us. Scotty and Jin are so friendly, we have enjoyed getting to know them and they are family. Their hours are convenient, there parking is ample. They’re seating is clean and comfortable, with clean restrooms. There is no bad choice on their menu. Everything is made fresh and to order. And they do a great job with take-out.
