I really like this place overall, but the lower rating is bc I order shrimp options regularly and it does not appear they properly clean the intestinal tract of shrimp used for items like egg foo young. I am concerned about how well other items that are not visible are cleaned because of this. We have never gotten sick, but this makes me nervous.

We have only gotten take out, so I cannot speak to the in person service or atmosphere.

Generally speaking; this place has great prices but is constantly inconsistent in terms of the cook quality. Sometimes I think their so rushed they under cook the food. I got sick a couple times from undercooked chicken. That being said; they provide an fairly reasonably priced Chinese experience. The crab Rangoon is a little salted imo; but I am not a food expert.

This was a tough one to review. Their Chinese food isn’t the typical “New England” style that a lot of us love. This is a style that you may find in Florida or the Midwest. For starters egg rolls in New England are usually made with mostly shredded and dried celery, char su pork and cabbage giving them there unique flavor. Their egg rolls were almost all cabbage giving them very little flavor. Pork fried rice is often judged by flavor, fillers and how dark it is. Their pork fried rice is yellow, with very little pork and greatly lacking flavor. Chinese chicken wings are usually marinated and have a nice dark skin. I will say that their wings tasted good, but they were your typical breaded chicken wings. More of an American style. Their teriyaki had a nice flavor, but was a little rough and extremely narrow. New England lobster sauce is traditionally made with pork. Their sauce had zero pork in it. They used peas, carrots and eggs as fillers with the shrimp. It’s too bad because the flavors were actually spot on. Lastly I did think the spareribs were pretty solid. Meat was tender and the flavors weren’t strong, but they were still tasty.
The other item that sets New England Chinese food apart from other areas of the country is their delicious homemade duck sauce. Usually made with apples or plums and a few other ingredients. Their sauces (duck and hot mustard) come in packets. It is the red sauce that you find outside of New England.
The food was edible, but there are so many other great choices.

This is my first time and last ordering from this restaurant . Iordered take out. Placed my order at 5:56, food did not arrive until after 8pm. Food was room temperature to cold The beef and chicken teriyaki was dry.Did not taste like teriyaki at all. Beef lo mein had very little beef. The general chicken and shrimp was satisfactory. It was more of an orange glaze. Very bland not spicy. Beef chow mein was like a soup no flavor . Chicken wing in garlic sauce was ok. Very bland. All in all the food had no flavor
The deliver driver was very pleasant!
I feel I wasted 100.00 on this meal.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!
I ate this food on Saturday and here it is tuesday and I am still seeing this food come out both ends. It’s didn’t even taste good. The tofu was so overcooked and dry and the fried rice didn’t even have soy sauce on it. My son had low mein , and he also got sick. If I could get up , I would ask them for my money back and to pay me for all the days that i’ve missed of work

I don’t care what anyone says about this place, I ordered delivery, I’m 9 months preggo and don’t wanna go anywhere and was really craving Chinese. The food came so fast and the driver was awesome. I’m very picky with Chinese and I got orange chicken and lo mein and the chicken is perfectly spiced and whole pieces of chicken and not battery like most places and the lo mein is just I got rice noodles too and a won ton soup. Literally amazing. I’ll be ordering here more often, and the baby loves it

I decided to try Hunan Place for takeaway, and I was neither disappointed nor sent over the moon. It was an adequate, fresh, and tasty Chinese food experience, but it really didn’t leave me feeling like THIS is the one Chinese food place for me forever.

I ordered the General Tso’s chicken lunch for pickup, opting for an egg roll and adding a small order of crab Rangoons. I had wanted fried plantains, but they were out. Such is life.

I headed over about ten or fifteen minutes later and my food was ready and waiting for me. I had considered doing dine in, but despite the menu saying that they offer dine in, I saw reviews that said they didnt. Well, if they do, it doesnt look like it, nor is there a particularly nice atmosphere inside.

However, for today and my current desires, that is fine, though it makes it less likely that I will return

I brought my food home and eagerly unpacked it. Everything looked fresh and delicious, and there was a fair amount – enough to make 2 meals of it. I separated out my servings and started my taste adventure.

The rice was the yellow fried rice you see at places like Pacific Asian Cuisine in Woonsocket. I prefer this variety to the soy sauce soaked brown that you find elsewhere. It was tasty and adequate.

The egg roll was a delight. Nice and crispy with a great filling. This was a highpoint. Be proud of this eggroll – it carried the meal to a higher place.

The Rangoons of crab were another story. Neither particularly crabby nor quite cream cheesey enough, they were still crispy and – once again – adequate.

The chicken. The star of the show. How did it fare?

Nice crisp battering, plenty of sauce, but not spicy at all. Sweet as all get out. I did not expect this since it has a chili pepper next to it on the menu.

I went to the fridge, took out my Sriracha, and I fixed what was wrong. Once I added just a little spice, the meal became something I enjoyed rather than just something I was eating.

All said?

Good food, great price, needs some spice, and the high points for me were the impression of freshness I had of the food, and that eggroll.

Low points? I needed my own seasonings, and the overall ambiance of the place is somewhat lacking.

Would I go back? Yes. It is fairly close and I like it more than a lot of the other Chinese restaurants that are near us.
