Came in for takeout and there was no one inside eating . Lady at the counter was really nice and my food maybe took 15 minutes got a lunch special and it only cost a little bit over $10. Not bad for the amount of food I got. Said it was supposed to be spicy and it wasn’t to me, but still was good 🙂

Extensive menu with all the oldies but goodies and also snazzy specials. The egg rolls are very large with a crispy exterior and soft flavorful inside. Veggies and meat are all super fresh and portion sizes are very generous. Two people could easily share one meal (just add two egg rolls : ) Fortune Cookies actually have great fortuans, not the silly ones.
I would give Hunan King 4.5 stars if I could. My only critiques is the ambiance inside that can use a spruce up and the prices went up considerably over the years. Their lunch menu is available until 3 pm and offers a lower rate than the dinner menu does, if you are looking for a deal.

This place is a hidden gem in Shaler. The food is always good and the price is nice. You can eat in but the restaurant part needs remodeled and updated. We only do take out and highly recommend it!

Largely a run of the mill American style Chinese restaurant, but the quality of the food puts it above many local contemporaries. Everything I have ordered has been hot and well made, with ample portions for the prices.
The restaurant itself was closed for dining for a number of years due to the pandemic, and it’s still not a place I’d dine in at, since the dining room is pretty dingy and outdated, and basically seems like an afterthought for the aforementioned takeout business, which always seems quite busy.
The service is pleasant, but seems a touch understaffed for demand, so expect your order will likely take longer than the the average Chinese takeout place, and you may be waiting a bit longer than the initial prediction. But for the overall enjoyability of the food, it seems worth it. Definitely a decent takeout option for the area.

First time ordering from here . It turned out to be a great find! I’m not gonna lie ; the look of the exterior in the picture was a turn off. But, I gave it a shot because of good reviews. I had a great experience. I placed an order for delivery and was very pleased by the woman’s patience on the other end , as I had a big order. The price was reasonable and the delivery was quick. The food was better than I expected! I will definitely be ordering from here again!

Other than the large dining room, Hunan King doesnt really stand out all that much from other locally-owned Chinese restaurants. Large menu, decent prices, GREAT location, and consistent wait times. I’ve never personally ordered anything here that I was dissatisfied with, nor did I order anything that rocked my world. My big criticism is that most items can only be ordered in Large size, so anticipate leftovers if you’re ordering for yourself.

The food here is delicious! I come here anytime I’m feeling Chinese or want something quick to eat. Prices are great. Facility needs updated but really, I always pick up so it doesn’t bother me that much.

We moved 30 minutes away, and still come here for Chinese. I always know that my food will be cooked all the way, and not be too dry. The people that work there do not speak good English, but they don’t have too, because I never have to confirm with them, they always have it right every time. I have never had a bad experience here.
