If you grew up in Katy, Texas in the 90s or early 2000s, you probably remember Hong Kong Gardens. I started going there when I was five years old and we ate there multiple times a week. When they retired, I genuinely missed that style and quality of Chinese food for years.

If you have not been here, you really need to treat yourself! The dining room is clean and decorated cute. The service is outstanding and the food is fresh and tasted delicious! I took pictures and added below of the entrees we ordered. I highly recommend the Shrimp & Chicken in Birds Nest and the Walnut Shrimp. We went at dinner time, the entrees are large enough to share. I think I’ve found my new favorite Chinese food spot!

Our very first time at Hunan Garden Baobae. The atmosphere is very relaxed and feels very clean. We started our order with Wonton Soup. The soup was served hot and tasted great. We also ordered Fried Pork Dumplings as well as Steamed Vegetable Dumplings. Both were made fresh upon request. Very tasty and hot. I ordered the Orange Chicken with Steamed Rice. My brother ordered the Happy Family with Lo-main. My bf ordered the General Tso’s Chicken with Fried Rice. All was great and freshly served. For it being our first time, we loved it! Delicious! I ordered hot and sour seafood soup and Happy Family. Both were super delicious. The portion size was just right. My wife ordered fried rice and it just as delicious. Can’t wait to eat the leftovers. Will definitely be back.

Nice and well maintained Chinese restaurant with good food. The soups were very nice, and the beef orange was a clear winner. The egg rolls were pretty good, too. Sweet and sour pork and chicken were OK, maybe a bit too oily. Service was great.

Was sad that our go too Chinese spot (fortune village) closed and super happy another great place took their spot, same location and phone number… maybe just renamed, not sure but I am sure the food is awesome!
I ate the Lo Mein, egg roll , and steamed pork dumplings. Everything was flavorful, tasting great!
My wife ordered the 8 treasures chicken, hot and sour soup, she said it was good, I ate a few bites and it was! The chicken was mild-med spicy and the soup not bland, ha that’s a good thing!
PSA we ordered take out so some of the pictures aren’t full portions or in their original take out dishes. I highly recommend giving them a try you won’t be sorry

What a wonderful discovery! Everything was perfect from the greeting, seating, eating and very hospitable service.
I had the Seafood noodle soup and Shrimp fried rice. Both were delicious and plentiful. Even in 100+ degree weather, I still love soups and this soup will have me back for more.
The shrimp fried rice was cooked perfectly! Not steamed rice with soy sauce but actually fried and plenty of shrimp.
The Owner and the young lady who took great care to be sure we were satisfied and yes we were.
Please support them, we need this gem to stay around. Give them a try, you won’t regret it. Next time, I’ll try the Egg foo young as well.
