Got for takeout as we were craving Chinese food. Never again. The egg drop soup was so greasy. I soaked more grease off the top layer of soup than I soak off of entire pepperoni pizza. The Satay Beef was sliced so thin and cooked way too long. It was like chewing beef jerky. The Crab Rangoon was dry and bland. The Happy Family looked like they started with a Beef and Broccoli and threw a couple baby corn in it and one scallop. That was it, nothing but beef, broccoli, 2 baby corn, 1 scallop and 2 bamboo shoots. And; all of it was barely luke warm and we ended up heating what was semi-edible in the microwave. Very disappointed and a huge waste of money. For $45 we should have had at least enough for two meals if not more. We didn’t even have enough edible food for 1 complete meal.

I do not write reviews unless I am either really satisified with a place, or really dissappointed. I am very happy to give this business my 5/5 review. They are my favorite chinese resteraunt in the KC Metro Area. The food is consistently fresh, tastes amazing- better than most other places I have been to- and the staff are so kind and pleasant to be around everytime I visit. I also love their decor and the soul the owners have clearly put into it. It may seem like a simple place, but it tastes like home!

I’m sorry but they need to use better take out containers or pay better attention when they package the food. I got take out to eat on the go since I was busy. My food leaked absolutely everywhere and it was impossible to eat it. I did not have a plate so I intended to eat from the take out container (totally reasonable as I ordered one entree) but it was literally covered in sauce (the photo doesn’t even show it all). I was not expecting this so when I was trying to take the container out of the bag the sauce that was on the outside of the container dripped all over my jeans and white sweater. Safe to say I’m quite disappointed because they seemed pretty nice in person. Also the portion of rice they gave compared to the entree is kind of wild, but oh well. (the top box in the photo is rice)

I’ve tried a bit of everything: the lunch specials (Shrimp/Combo), soups, and Lo Mein. The food is consistently delicious, well-portioned, and very fairly priced. The egg drop soup is my favorite in town. If you’re looking for fresh food and a team that actually cares about their customers, this is the place. This is not a buffet but individually prepared dishes. You will find a favorite.

Absolutely love Hunan Garden! The portions are generous, and they’re super flexible with special requests. As someone with food allergies, I really appreciate how accommodating they are. And as an Asian person, I can confidently say their flavor is the best in the area — authentic, balanced, and consistently delicious. Highly recommend!

After coming from from the zoo we wanted to try a new place. It was small but friendly. Clean tables and attentive friendly staff. For the smaller size the establishment had more patrons inside than I expected. Others came and picked up orders. I enjoyed the different beer selections. Had to try all 3 for science :). For the meals they were quick to serve and filling. To make it better I’d suggest some pictures on the menu or a better description of what all comes w the items. We ordered extra rice not knowing it came w rice lol. BUT I love the rice so I had more to eat at home ♡.

Was craving fried rice and glad I came to Hunan Garden! It was a classic Midwest Chinese restaurant experience! Living in California we have lots of Chinese food options but it lacks the same comfort we get here in KC. The service was very fast and attentive. The food quality is high! Def prefer from here for either takeout at home or enjoy a peaceful meal in their cozy dining room.

I highly recommend this place! The food is all fresh and very flavorful. You can tell they keep the place clean and portions are perfect! The portions are pretty typical could get two meals from the dishes my wife and I got. I got the general Tso chicken and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken.

Not your ordinary Chinese restaurant. Owners, Paul and Wendy welcome you like family and provide a relaxing atmosphere. The food is well prepared and the outstanding table service will make you feel very special with the attention on making sure your order is to your liking. I enjoyed the Happy Family entre and the portion size will not leave you hungry. Lovely congenial people and charming place.
