The Tianjin-style buns were another highlight. Soft, fluffy, and packed with flavorful filling, they were easily some of the best I’ve had outside of China.
Service was friendly and efficient, and the overall atmosphere was warm and comfortable. Definitely a spot I’d come back to and recommend to anyone craving real Chinese cuisine.
I also really appreciated the warm and welcoming service here. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly. The dining area was clean and comfortable, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Whether you’re coming with friends or family, this is a fantastic place to enjoy a delicious meal. I’ve already recommended it to others and will definitely be coming back!
They came out piping hot, stuffed with flavorful pork and whole shrimp, wrapped in soft, spongy dough. These reminded me of my mom’s homemade buns and that’s saying a lot. Each order includes 6 medium sized buns. A bit pricy, but worth it for the quality and rarity.
We also ordered the grilled whole fish, seafood tofu casserole, Mongolian lamb, and stir-fried Chinese greens from the authentic menu. All were flavorful, just a touch salty for me, but perfect with rice.
Friendly service, cozy and spacious setting. I’ll definitely be back especially for the baozi!
******UPDATE –
I’m honestly baffled by how bad this meal was. I’ve given Hunan Dynasty a few chances, but this time was the last straw.
The wonton soup was highlighter yellow with chewy, inedible pork — the texture was off and tasted unpleasant. The General Tso’s chicken was even worse: mostly thick breading with barely any meat inside, and what little chicken there was felt undercooked and full of weird ligaments. The sauce was pure sugar — more like corn syrup than anything resembling a balanced dish.
The Dan Dan noodles arrived cold, flavorless, and greasy, with the meat tasting stale and chewy. Even the vegetable spring rolls were over-fried and dripping in oil, leaving a coating of vegetable grease instead of any real flavor.
Overall, this meal was completely inedible. For the price and reputation, this was shockingly low quality — everything tasted mass-produced and carelessly prepared. Definitely would not recommend or reorder.
The restaurant has a tiny door that leads to upstairs space that’s surprisingly roomy.
The problem with a dual restaurant like this however is that they cannot predict the clienteles so you won’t be getting fresh ingredients if you are a picky Chinese customer like me. For example the frogs they use are frozen frog legs which means they are basically tasteless and not fresh.
The better idea is to order basic meat such as lamb, beef or pork but not fish nor frogs.
The Peking duck is misleading as the photos show very authentic cuts but in reality it’s basically wrong including using tortillas for wrap which I hate. Just use real wraps even if you don’t know how to properly roast Peking duck. Of course it’s a good place to go if you miss Peking duck and the price is not bad.
I do like the services as it’s attentive and I like the people working there.
