I used to go to this place all the time. Other Chinese options in MHK became available. This place lagged. Late on a Sunday night I ordered Hunan when other online Chinese places were no longer accepting orders. My food came hot and fairly quickly. The delivery driver was courteous. The rice was fresh. Food was good.

We’ve been going to this place off and on for years. We had a bad experience last year and hadn’t been back. I went and ordered the empress chicken like I used to, to see if anything had changed.
It hasn’t. The chicken is like jerky, dry and so tough. The sauce was thick and gritty. Like they used too much cornstarch. The lo mein and egg rolls were the only thing edible in our entire order. So disappointing. There isn’t any good Chinese in Manhattan now that happy family is gone.

We order take out all the time. Don’t know if they got a new cook or switched up recipes or what happened but the last two times the crab rangoon tasted awful, the general tso chicken had no spiciness to it at all, the sweet and sour sauce tasted like straight up ketchup.. normally the food is great and you get a lot. I really hope it was a new cook that didn’t know what they were doing and we don’t have to find a new take out place.

Despite living on the extreme Eastern side of town(past Green Valley Road), the beat the estimated delivery time by an easy 15min. Food was hot and delicious. I HIGHLY recommend and would rate higher than 5 stars if possible. Another plus, the delivery driver was courteous.

Ordered hunams pepper steak and pork fried rice combo with egg roll and egg drop soup. So disappointed the beef and sauce and veggies have a metallic taste the pork fried rice tastes like soap, egg drop soup is tasteless the only thing decent was the egg roll. I paid $20 and change for garbage.
