We ordered the shrimp po boy and the trout open face sandwich, both were pretty good! The trout sandwich lacked a bit of flavor but over a great choice for a light lunch.
Drinks came out quickly, service was super quick, and they didn’t rush us out when we stayed for an extra hour just chatting which I appreciated. They even came to fill my water up while we chitchatted even though we already paid for our meals. Ill be back!!
Tonight’s selections were the chicken wings & white pizza (him) and the braised melt in your mouth short ribs (me).
Food: I enjoyed the veggie quiche. The cheese grits were also enjoyed. The quiche had a delicious rich and savory flavor and I enjoyed the flaky crust.
Cocktail: I expected to sip on health, wealth and happiness when I ordered my espresso martini but the three beans were missing. The flavor was great but the presentation matters.
Ambiance: I enjoyed brunch on the patio on a cool fall evening. There were heaters on the patio so I never got cold. The seating is comfortable and the atmosphere was very cozy.
I do recommend Hummingbird and I love that there are reservation options.
Pork Collard Melt – excellent
Misses:
Long wait for food – had patio reservation, took about 30 minutes for food order to arrive (we observed this for all patio two-tops)
Poor value on Breakfast Burrito – was optimistic but the description was accurate that it was a tortilla filled with potato (and some chili and onion) topped with a few slivers of avocado and one egg, surrounded by sauce (which was good). Would be worth the cost if there were ingredients inside the burrito like scrambled egg, avocado, beans, tomato, etc. A burrito essentially filled with mashed potato for $16?!
Actual stars: 3
Really wanted to enjoy this experience, but it was ok. Would not come back or recommend. Highly recommend 1) a mobile POS to make service more efficient for customers and staff, and 2) if you don’t have the kitchen staff to keep up, seat less customers.
