Humber Fish is one of our top favourite restaurants. As a fish-lover and someone who was born in a fish-centric place, I can vouch that this place serves the best fish and seafood! It is in the vibrant Marina location and along the bustling street. We love to visit the restaurant more in the evenings and at sunset times, as the fairy lights along the street look extremely beautiful. The setting outside is as beautiful as the interiors of the restaurant. As soon as you will step inside, you will know that you are going to thoroughly enjoy the place. The ambience is beautiful. The table settings are really nice. I love the decor and all the fish/coastal ornaments all over the place! I keep admiring them every time we visit the restaurant. We always order starters, mains as well as the desserts! The portions of the mains are huge and the prices are worth it! The quality of fish/seafood is of very high standard. Each and every dish is well-prepared and simply sublime. Our favourites are the prawns, oysters, the crab cakes, the diablo, sriracha monkish, halibut and the seabass! The salmon too last time was absolutely delicious. Service here has always been great! We have always booked well in advance to avoid disappointment as they are always busy. Please note it is not a very big restaurant, so if you wish to eat here, especially during a weekend/busy times, please book in advance. One constructive feedback for the restaurant team would be to implement an online booking system. One can only book a table by calling the restaurant and they are not open everyday. It would be very helpful and convenient if there was a system, be it via Instagram chat or Facebook messenger, or even on the website itself of the restaurant, that allowed people to do online reservations. Humber Fish is definitely a MUST-VISIT restaurant!

We travelled by train to Hull to watch Hull KR play the Brisbane Broncos. Wandering around town, it seemed like the council had decided to do every bit of roadwork, repair and building job all at once. That said, we thought it was really beautiful and had lots of charm and character. It was the equivalent of someone having all their teeth worked on, but who can’t help but smile at you.

Beyond the scaffolding, road cones, closed pavements – there is a lot of nice places to see and fun to be had.

It felt good to be back among Rugby League fans, going to watch “the greatest game of all”, an appetizer to the new NRL season about to start.
For dinner, we decided we wanted seafood. We reached out to book, knowing that you can’t just show up with a 40kg German Shepherd and hope for the best.

Humber Fish Co really looked after us and delivered on the honest seafood fare we were after as our pre-game dinner.

We got a little pre-dinner game starter from the kitchen and it was a nice little morsel to get the show going.

For orders, we opened with the Surf & Turf Spring Rolls. I’ll be honest, I sort of ordered them as a dare to myself. Years spent working in kitchens taught me that sometimes a “spring roll starter” can occasionally be something of an inventory management exercise, clearing a cool room of things that don’t make it to the table quite when it should have. Satay Mayo, they really could have gone either way. But they were good. Flavours were nice, no regrets in having given them a go.

We decided to go with “The Shipmate” option on the platter menu, at £43 per head. There were two of us, and we thought this would give us the best chance to try a bit of everything.

The oysters were fresh and I was glad to have them.

There were prawns in multiple sizes: king, crevette, shell-on, tiny ones in a cocktail. Some better than others.

The mussels were okay, but what I really enjoyed was the smoked and pickled fishes. The smoked salmon and trout were solid. Mackerel pâté, roll mop herring, boquerones. Salty, sharp and delicious.

I was originally going to get some fresh seafood before opting for the platter, but enjoyed these elements immensely.

The bread and dressings helped things along, and we got some fries and these were a welcome addition to the meal.

For drinks we got a glass of Roebuck Classic Cuvée from West Sussex to start. This was a good English “fizz”, and worked well with the seafood. The Pinot Noir also worked great, the menu calls it a “Red for Fish”, and I agree with this assessment.

It was a bit quiet, and I’m not sure if it is all the nearby construction or that we were there very early into the dinner service. We saw some of the other dishes coming out of the kitchen and they looked like simple and honest versions of what they are – and would tempt me on a return visit.

We had a nice time here, and with the Broncos losing to Hull KR, our dinner was likely the high point of the night. Thanks team for having us and letting us bring our beautiful dog in to sit under the table, who spent the whole meal hoping we would drop a prawn.

A true gem and a much-needed addition to Hull’s dining scene. As a fish lover, I was thrilled to find a restaurant that serves high-quality, creative seafood dishes. The menu had an impressive variety, and my halibut was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is classy and inviting, and the service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. It’s wonderful to finally have a sophisticated option for seafood that goes beyond the standard fish and chips. Highly recommended!

Food was gorgeous, albeit the time between courses was quite long but it was a busy Friday. But the five stars is for our waitress Kiara. Service with a smile- which is more than I can say for some of the others(!) She went out of her way for us and is a true credit to the restaurant. I hope she is valued as highly by the restaurant as she is the customers!

Very pleasant experience.
Table booked only the day before, upon arrival we asked if we could swap to a table behind the fish tank and it caused no issue whatsoever (not a fan of being in the middle of an open space).
All staff was extremely pleasant and professional, responsive even at a very busy Friday service.
Food was fantastic, we didn’t have to wait long at all. And the rubber duckies are a phenomenal idea!

Came here in 2019 and just getting round to doing a review.

Me and my partner were just exploring hull on a rainy day and basically came into this place by accident at lunch time. It had just opened so we were the only people in the restaurant.

The staff were really friendly and gave us a nice private table and let us look at the menu, they gave us plenty of space but were still attentive and kind.

I got the lobster whilst my partner got the scallops, both of which were perfectly cooked and delicious, some of the best we’ve had in the UK.

Overall just had such a nice atmosphere about it and as stated since it was such a memorable experience for us I thought I’d finally do a review.

The food was okay, but we were a bit early to get any of the atmosphere as we were the only ones in. Had a prawn cocktail was nice. However, cocktail sauce was a bit watery, fish cakes were very nice, mains real monkfish scampi delicious, fish and chips nice chips were a bit to large. Overall, it was very good for a first visit.
