We really enjoyed our lunch at the Inn. All of the food was delicious. We sat outside under the covered porch & enjoyed the the picturesque tropical gardens. The salad was delicious, poke was really fresh, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We will be back & highly recommend!!!

Update 6/16/25:

It’s official, this gem of a restaurant is gone, and guess who took over? Sheldon Simeon.

Don’t get me wrong, his food is good but it was nice to have a different style and on top of that the original restaurant was affordable. I have no doubt prices will be set accordingly, especially with Sheldon’s name attached to the establishment.

If Justin and Kaimana see this (original chefs of hui kitchen) please open your own location one day.

Original review:

All I can say is unreal.

Tucked away in Wailuku at the old inn. You’re greeted by the hostess where you also order your food. You can either take a seat inside or outside and they’ll bring it out to you. The kitchen is serviced by two brothers, Justin and Kaimana.

Ordered the ahi katsu and a side of fries. Quality and presentation were blown to say the least. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been impressed by a restaurant on Maui. They’re either too expensive with ok food, or good food with astronomical prices. This sits at the top with excellent food at a fair price.

Looking forward to next time.

This is a hidden gem. I absolutely love that this INN is now opened for LOCALS & visitors to enjoy a delicious meal for lunch, in such a beautiful atmosphere. No reservations needed.

Each dish has been created by the chef Justin, and they are all so ʻono and beautifully plated. It’s great that there are options for us gluten & dairy free eaters as well.

Heard about this new spot opening up about a week ago and finally got to sample it. All I can say is that I found a new lunch spot when I’m Wai side.
It’s tucked away in a quiet part of Wailuku and has a beautiful courtyard with outdoor tables. A perfect laid back spot for a freshly prepared lunch.
I got the ahi katsu and the musubi for lunch and they were unreal grinds. $8 for 6 huge handrolled musubi is an unbelievable deal and the ahi katsu must have been double fried or something because the crust was super crunchy and the fish perfectly rare. I had to get the poke of the week and the garden salad for sunset dinner.
Major props to Chef Justin

Fabulous place for lunch! It’s so cozy and welcoming and the food is delicious. They’ve only been serving lunch for two weeks and I’ve already been twice! I could go every week.

The garden setting is really fabulous. Calming. An oasis so close to downtown Wailuku. The food is simple, but beautifully executed, with surprising flavors. Even the side dishes are a cut above. The side salad has so many fun ingredients and Chef Justin’s special lilikoi dressing is magic. It’s not like me to skip the fries to eat a salad – but I do it here!

Today I went for the tuna melt – and I’ll have it again!

What a gem! This place was terrific! Nestled in a tropical garden landscape, the Hui Kitchen is part of the historic Old Wailuku Inn (B&B). The food was delicious and my daughter and I so enjoyed dining outside in the garden. The inside is super nice and comfortable too. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

The most sublime place for lunch. A charming garden path leads you to the gracious entrance of the Historic Wailuku Inn. To see that is reason enough to visit but the lunch is equally impressive. It’s been almost a week since my visit and I am still dreaming about my lunch there. It is rare that food is that memorable that I find myself thinking about it daily. My friend, who is ever a critic, was equally impressed with her ahi katsu. This little place is a lovely oasis in Wailuku Town and I cannot wait to go back! Such a great addition to Maui lunch scene.

Having followed Chef Justin’s career the last few years, his food never disappoints. His blend of flavors and presentation while remaining consistent to his roots and influences, truly is reflected in each dish. The setting of the historic Wailuku Inn makes the whole experience one that will be unforgettable. Surrounding by greenery and a grassy area, it’s an exceptional place to have a date, take a lunch break, have a business meeting or holoholo with the ‘Ohana. I highly recommend the Kalbi short ribs as my favorite dish so far and I can’t wait for my next opportunity to try a different dish.
