We stopped in for brunch and were absolutely blown away. The attention to detail that Hugo has put into his establishment was apparent in every aspect of this experience. It is truly a work of art. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing. The food was world class. The calamari was expertly crafted and the quality was top notch. We had the huevos rancheros and the Dutch blueberry baby pancake and both were to die for.

Thank you, Hugo, for sharing your culinary vision with the world! And to the wait staff for curating such a wonderful dining experience!

We came on Friday (10/03) for our wedding anniversary dinner. And boy, it didnt disappoint.
We ordered the specials of the night along with oysters and calamari and it it was all super delicious. Calamari was fried to perfection along with a yummy marinara. Oysters had a nice taste and delightful vinegar/garlic sauce. My husband’s beef something was very filling and he loved it. My halibut with corn puree was sooo delicious. I will definitely wanna have it again. ❤️

The experience was average and did not fully justify the price. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the service was not among the best. Several staff members seemed inexperienced and unfamiliar with the level of attention expected in a higher-end restaurant. The food was inconsistent, and the black pasta was unfortunately overcooked, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the team did offer us a complimentary dessert, which was a nice gesture and appreciated. Overall, it was an okay experience, but there is room for improvement, especially considering the pricing.

We visited Hugo’s for the Thanksgiving Feast and, while there were some standout elements, the overall experience did not match the premium pricing.

Atmosphere & Décor
The atmosphere was excellent and the décor throughout the restaurant was truly fabulous—warm, inviting, and festive in all the right ways. However, for a fine dining holiday experience, the tables were noticeably out of place. They were the same type of tables you would find at a casual $8-burger spot, which clashed with the otherwise beautiful décor and the elegant chairs that did match the occasion.

Food Quality
The meal began on a high note. The roasted butternut squash soup was absolutely sublime, one of the best parts of the entire evening. The entrées also showed great promise. The meat was well-seasoned, tender, and served warm.

However, the temperature of several sides was noticeably inconsistent:

The cranberry sauce was cold,

The green beans and mashed sweet potatoes were barely warm at best,

Despite this, the flavors themselves were spot-on, showing that the kitchen knows how to season well—execution just missed the mark.

Desserts
Unfortunately, dessert was a disappointment. The pumpkin pie suffered from an off ratio—the crust and filling were nearly the same height. The crust was extremely hard, and the filling had little to no flavor.
The ice cream was frozen solid, while the whipped cream had the right texture but lacked flavor.
Additionally, one dessert arrived missing its caramel decoration, which only further diminished the presentation and overall impression.

Service
Service was good—polite and attentive—but not excellent. For a special occasion dinner priced at this level, we expected a more elevated and polished service experience.

Value
For a party of six, the total was roughly $650, with only one special drink included. Considering the inconsistencies in food temperature, the disappointing desserts, and the mismatch in table quality, the meal simply did not justify the price.

Overall
Hugo’s has a beautiful atmosphere, excellent décor, and some truly delicious elements (especially the soup and the seasoning of the meats). But with the high cost of the Thanksgiving Feast, the gaps in execution—both culinary and service-wise—made the experience fall short of what was promised and expected.

We had our welcome luncheon, for my daughter’s wedding, at Hugo’s on October 9th. The restaurant is lovely and had the upscale vibe we were looking for. I worked with Maria, many months in advance, to select the perfect menu for our out of town guests. They went over and beyond to make sure our guests were well taken care of. Several of us had the Lobster Cobb Salad and it was delicious! Please consider this hidden gem as Chef Hugo offers so many delicious meals, and the waitstaff is so kind and accommodating!

We were super excited to try Hugo’s for the first time. There was ample off-street parking and we were lucky enough to get a spot right outside the front door. We were greeted by a server and told we could select any table. Once seated we ordered drinks and an appetizer to share. The wine list was somewhat limited and our server had very little knowledge of wine options. The appetizer was well prepared and made a great presentation. Shortly after finishing the appetizer our entrees arrive. The timing was a little off but not too noticeable. The server should have marked the table so we didn’t have to wait for our steak knives after the entrees were served. The servers we were interacting with spoke very softly which made it hard to understand what they were saying. The overall ambiance was rather poor. When the restaurant is busy it can be challenging trying to conduct a conversation due to excessive background noise. This made it difficult to conduct any conversation. The overall decor doesn’t align well with the brand and is noticeably worn and stained.

Not sure we will be back…but pleased we gave Hugo’s a try.

It was our first day in town and we couldn’t have ended the night in a better way! Eating at Hugo’s was amazingly delicious! Everything was just incredible, from the presentation, to the combination of flavors, the texture of the vegetables were on point, the sauces were exquisite and the dessert was a delicatessen. We are definitely going back and if you are in town and enjoy fine dining, Hugo’s restaurant is a must! It was Michelin quality!

I mean I read about it, but then experienced it and was totally blown away. This will easily become one of my favorite spots when visiting Glenwood. We had breakfast. There can only imagine what dinner would be like.

Today we visited for brunch and were totally blown away, again. Soup, pasta, burger, wings, Dutch pancakes, salmon Benedict; all have been incredible across different visits. Chef, your passion shows through your food every time – no matter what time of day I’ve been in. Awesome flavors, period. Professional, attentive, and courteous service helping seal the deal as to why we keep coming back. Hidden Gem of Glenwood.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had at a restaurant. The service was excellent and the food. THE FOOD! We will be coming back no doubt! We visit about 4 times a year and have tried most restaurants in Glenwood and Carbondale. This blows them all out of the water.
