Simplicity. Often searched for, rarely found. Hugh-Baby’s BBQ & Burger Shop throws back to a time when things were as simple as they could be. A time when even the smallest things were well-made with deliberate attention and care. When, just because something was to be simply enjoyed, you didn’t throw craftsmanship and dedication out the window. We’ve brought back that same integrity to our menu with an obvious attention to detail. We illustrate this daily by grinding our own beef for our burgers, following time-honored Memphis barbecue, and hand-spun milkshakes. Then we’ve combined these signature items with a small, straightforward menu that gives our guests more time to enjoy all the effort that goes into our food.
Chill, old-school shack offering ample BBQ meats & burgers, chili dogs & fries.

I also love the fries! Their string fries.. are thin. Some people like that ,some don’t, but i love string fries ! Im from Wisconsin so i know good beef and a burger when i find one!! I Will definitely be back, especially since im a local!!
The food mushroom Swiss was so damn good, I didn’t like the fries but to each is own.
The second time, we went about 2 days later, and we went on the inside. The atmosphere was delightful and clean on the inside . And guess who was at the counter?? You know my guy Cody was there. Love that guy already. Can you believe he remembered us from the drive-through, or maybe me, cause I’m so vocal ( especially when I spend this hard earned ) ♀️ So anyway, I tell him wanted to see everything on the menu and he hit the menu screen that shows everything they have (sweeeeetttt) and LOOOVVEEE IIITTTT‼️‼️ Back to my experience Cody remembered our last order, we got the 2 pull pork sandwiches with pickles and my mushroom Swiss burger . My guy remembered that’s love. So we ate there. I’m from Memphis, and the pictures on the wall reminded me of home. Home of barbecue , so i tried the pull pork, didn’t ask for lean meat cause the drive-through issue (dude didn’t know about fat cause aint no fat ‼️ Can you believe no FAT ) . It’s a nice place, and Cody is the face of the establishment. The pull pork was so good, and my taste buds were in HEAVEN
Memphis people, if you’re in Nashville, come see if it compares to the city. If you’re not from Memphis and love barbecue, come and try it, I bet yall love it
So you can pay nearly $3 for every other restaurants kiddie cup or free water cup it’s that small.
I posted a picture with my hand so you can see how tiny this thing is
Stopped by Hugh Baby’s on Charlotte Pike and ordered the mushroom Swiss burger. The flavor was on point — juicy patty, fresh mushrooms, and melted Swiss cheese that hit just right. Definitely gives Steak ’n Shake on steroids vibes. The only drawback is that everything’s sold separately, so the price adds up fast.
My girl got the turkey sandwich (no bacon), and that was easily a 10 out of 10. Super fresh, flavorful, and well put together — honestly, I took a bite and might go back just to get that one next time.
Overall, solid spot with high-quality food. A little pricey, but the taste and freshness make it worth a visit.
The pulled pork sandwich was good just not anything spectacular. Nothing wrong with it, just not unique.
The fries were excellent, and the shake was delicious. Very much like what I would expect from an old-time hamburger stand.
While we were there on a Friday, we were not able to get the slug burger as they were sold out. That’s for next time.
Delicious, casual atmosphere, fun place for kids to play. We will be back!
