A great place surrounded by a cute downtown area of Abbyville, AL. Atmosphere was 10/10 and the turkey Ruben was to die for! The story of Hugging Molly is so strange, I love it. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a shot.

This was such a nice surprise walking into this town. The neon lights everywhere, made it feel like you were stepping back in time. The hugging molly ghost tale just adds to the charm of it all. My daughter got the pesto pasta and fell in love. I had a classic cheese burger and you could tell the beef was fresh. My dad got the shrimp plate and the shrimp were perfectly grilled and more than enough to fill his belly. They welcomed my service animal without a question. Our servicer had the sweetest accent and was from the town. The owner of yellawood owns the town and is making it his own. He’s doing an amazing job with the aesthetic of it.

My husband and I have been eating here for many years, traveling thru Abbeville. We absolutely love this place. The burgers are made to order, my husband ordered the half pound burger, medium, with a fried egg and bacon. I had a “make your own pasta”, with linguine with sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, and shrimp. But I have to focus on our appetizer which was the arancini with polmodoro sauce. I could have eaten it for an entree if it wasn’t just two. But we honestly really enjoyed them. Our server was friendly as they come and asked the kitchen when she didn’t have the answer. It is good to go back to a place you have gone to for years and the food is just as good. (I forgot the ice cream is a must try.)

Stilettos On Steel Newnan Georgia
We had a group of 21 Stilettos On Steel that came for a visit yesterday. I called ahead earlier in the week and when we arrived, they surprised us with having us set up in their private room. They heard us pull up and was waiting at the door with welcome arms and a beautifully set room. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing as always. Our server was delightful and handled 21 women without a glitch. We met the head chef when he came in and checked on us and what a wonderful surprise. Thank you for making our 299 mile round trip from Georgia just to visit you so special! We love HM and we love your town!

A luxury type dining here in my opinion. Plus lots of sweet treats to choose from. Loved the vintage vibes the aesthetics gave.

What an awesome place! Huggin’ Molly’s has such a great vibe—it’s like stepping back in time into an old soda shop. The classic soda bar and the Western Union station in the back were really cool touches, and the amount of antiques and memorabilia throughout the restaurant is second to none.

Now the food… absolutely on point. We started with the fresh-cut onion rings, and they did not disappoint. Then we split the Rockhill Club Sandwich with fries—the sandwich was fantastic, and while the fries weren’t my personal favorite, that’s just me and nothing against them. For dessert, we split the Golly Molly, swapping the fudge for caramel, and wow… it was sooooo good. Oh and I cannot forget our excellent waitress. She kept us topped off and ready to go

If you’re anywhere near Abbeville, this place is a must-visit.

Huggin Molly’s is very interesting. First, the food is way nicer than you would think. It’s not your typical soda shop. For example: I ate the herb roasted chicken and rooted vegetables. My wife had salmon, stemmed broccoli, and potatoes. You can get burgers there, too. Of course, I did finish with a vanilla milk shake.
The downtown area appears to be built around Huggin Molly’s and Georgia Pacific (Yellow Wood) company. It has great old artifacts and signage all around the main street there. It was an interesting visit.
Oh, the birth place of Rosa Parks (private property, but you can just see it from the side of the road) is not far. Blue Springs State Park is close too.

5 Stars – Huggin’ Molly’s: Exactly What We Needed

Have you ever left a restaurant thinking, “Why can’t more places get it right like this?” That was exactly our reaction after visiting Huggin’ Molly’s.

From the moment we sat down, it felt like we were in for something better—and they delivered. The service was prompt, the food came out surprisingly fast, and everything was fresh, hot, and made with care. How often do you find a place where the food arrives quickly and still exceeds expectations?

We tried several things, and not one item missed the mark. The hamburgers were juicy, perfectly cooked, and loaded with fresh toppings—no skimping here. The fish was excellent, flaky and seasoned just right. The homemade chips? Crisp, flavorful, and clearly made in-house. Even the side veggies were cooked just enough to still keep their texture, which is a rare thing.

And then there’s the mint chocolate chip malt. Rich, creamy, and blended just right—it was enough to share between three people and still feel like we each got our fill. It wasn’t just dessert; it was the kind of ending that makes a great meal unforgettable.

Compared to the last place I reviewed, this wasn’t just a step up—it was a completely different league. It makes you wonder: Why doesn’t everyone operate like this? Why don’t more places take the time to make every detail matter?

If you’re on the fence or just passing through, don’t miss Huggin’ Molly’s. They’ve earned this 5-star review, and we’ll absolutely be back.

Talk about a hidden gem off the beaten path. My wife and I have been driving through Abbeville AL on the way to FL for more than 40 years and have never detoured to historic downtown Abbeville AL. It is like a step back into the past – immaculately maintained buildings and streets with colorful neon signs and clocks on the facades. Beautiful in the evening when we arrived! Now I wish we’d stopped decades ago. It was dinner time and I had seen the sign for Huggin Molly’s for years and decided to finally find them and give them a try. This restaurant did not disappoint! Beautiful interior with historic furniture and decorations but comfortable. Terrific servers and best of all – delicious food! I love eating and the custom hamburger I ordered with bacon, an onion ring and fried egg was hands down the BEST burger I have ever had. Before it arrived I enjoyed a delightfully fresh and tasty side salad that even had bacon crumbles in it. My wife had a yummy and fresh Asian salad with chicken. After dinner we stopped at the soda counter and had a milk shake and a cup of ice cream. As elaborate as the soda counter is you MUST add hot fudge and hot caramel instead of squeeze bottles. We plan to stop at Huggin Molly’s now whenever passing through. Enjoyed the scenic and beautiful stroll through this immaculate historic town. Great job, Team!
