Huế Vietnamese Food in South San Jose is always packed, which set my expectations high. It’s good, but I’m not at all convinced it deserves the constant line-out-the-door hype.

That said, they’re famous for Bánh Bèo and I get why. The rice cakes with ground shrimp are tasty, especially with the dried shrimp on top. Definitely the highlight and worth ordering.

The Bún Bò Huế with oxtail looked amazing but was just okay. A bit oily and not as flavorful as it looked.

The real miss was the Bún Thịt Nướng.
Sliced grilled pork served over vermicelli & vegetables. The pork was dry. Try it but manage expectations. Popular doesn’t always mean flawless.

TLDR: fair prices for bomb food, credit cards accepted and would come back again

We were trying a bunch of different spots so we ended up with one bun bo hue, one ban xeo and one viet iced coffee. The ban xeo came with five rice cakes with dried shrimp and a chicharron, very tasty. The bun bo hue was full of flavor yet still light and not too heavy. They don’t skimp on the meat either. The viet iced coffee was so strong I had to add some iced water to it so I could drink it!

It was a rainy Monday afternoon, when I decided it was time to share some culture with my partner. We went to Hue restaurant to have some delicious viet food and it lived up to my expectations. We ordered the banh beo, banh xeo, and bun bo hue. The banh beo was delicious but the best part was definitely their nuoc mam with a subtly spicy twist. The bun bo hue was a classic and hit all the right marks and actually had a good amount of toppings. Finally the banh xeo was huge and so crispy. It took a really long time for the banh xeo to come (I started to think they missed my order), but when it came out, it was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Though service can be super slow and a little confusing, this place has all the hallmarks of a good Vietnamese restaurant. Overall, I really enjoyed everything and it was so filling,

This restaurant offers some of the best Vietnamese specialty dishes in town. It is located in a busy complex with many restaurants and boba coffee shops, attracting plenty of visitors. The food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable, especially for takeout.

A go-to spot for us since my parents love their bánh bèo and bún bò Huế. Food is always solid. Parking can be tricky, so come early before lunch gets busy.

If you want regional Hue Vietnamese food with the little snacks like the shrimp inside a chewy mochi like thing and a gooey rice and shrimp over a fried donut and little rice cake dishes with dried minced shrimp, then this is the place.

The bun bo hue here is missing the banana blossoms. There’s another place I would go that sells and specializes in Bun Bo Hue only.

Pretty authentic Hue style vietnamese food. Service is quick and food is pretty good with giant portions.
I think there are better places for all bun bo hue and their rice cake appetizers in SJ but overall service here is good and they have more options on the menu if you don’t want to go somewhere where they only sell one item .

Bun Bo hue and Mi quang- the portions are large! It’s good to share. A lot of appetizers central to hue. Service is fast and the vibe is family brunch rolling 6+ deep. I would recommend this restaurant if you’re in the mood for a different region of Vietnamese food.

First time visiting and it was busy. It seems like a popular place since people was willing to wait in line.

Tried their bun bo hue and some of the appetizers. The food is ok. I didn’t care for the bun bo hue. The flavors was a bit light for me. If you’re new to bun bo hue flavor than this is a good place to start.

The appetizers are good but the dishes itself is ok. It’s a good place to start for beginners.
