Ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger & Nachos. Burger was done without being burnt – perfection indeed! BBQ sauce was good too. Fries were handcut and great paired with their house made ranch. Nacho chips themselves were good (I don’t just love everyone’s chips). Thick chips with good flavor. Not a lot of cheese so it was a bit overwhelmed with the black bean flavor but some would really like that. Sweet staff and clean atmosphere. It was fun!

A great place for lunch. Lots of choices. My personal favorite is their amazing selection of giant, fat hot dogs with creative and delicious toppings. I particularly recommend “Pavlov’s Dog”. Their chili is wonderful for those with a lighter appetite. Nice crunchy salads. And…a great beer selection!

We went here for lunch and it was fantastic. The burgers are wonderful and I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you get. We ate at the bar and had Eli take care of us and he did an absolutely wonderful job. Being in the service industry before, he did all the things that make a difference. Not only was he attentive and informative. he helped out all his fellow servers during the lunch, rush. If you’re looking for some delicious food, a fantastic selection of beers, and even a very well thought out selection of whiskey, this is the place to go.

Had a wonderful meatloaf sandwich! The best part was that it was so huge i’ll get to eat the other half tomorrow. The server was helpful and doing her job wonderfully!

We stopped here for lunch and it was amazing! I had the Hudson on chicken and my husband had the tenderloin. They both were delicious. I didn’t try the bread pudding but the table next to us did and it looked wonderful. We also had amazing service from Ashleigh!!! We will definitely be back!

Hudson’s is probably the best restaurant in Iowa, and one of the best restaurants out there. Down to the fine details, there is so much delicious flavor in the food. The shrimp po boy is the best thing on the menu in my opinion. But, they have phenomenal ranch to go with delicious fries and delectable Moscow mules. One nice option is the ability to change a burger for a chicken patty on their sandwiches. In addition to the wonderful food, there is a very cute atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. The whole experience is awesome and I cannot even describe the awesomeness my experience every time I visit. I always come here when I want some good food.

Came here on account of the reportedly outstanding bread pudding – I am pleased to report this information was accurate, it’s a must have. I should’ve asked for it al la mode, but it still knocked my socks off.
Furthermore, they were running a deal: $12 for 25 oz of mimosa are mighty treacherous waters, but I was on vacation so I turned into a day drinking pirate.
Also our server was attentive and loads of fun, and the staff flexible with seating and plating options.
I ordered a really weird combination of food while I was here, but I had a positively marvelous time.
5/5, I could be easily persuaded to come back.

I’ll admit it – this review is long overdue… but it got to the point where I felt like it would be weird for me to post something.
I’ve visited Hudson’s many, many times and I’ve always had an amazing experience. The food menu is incredible, but it’s definitely comfort bar food. If you’re trying to be healthy, your choices are limited, but if you want to go home stuffed and satisfied, anything on the menu is a safe bet – I know, I’ve literally had everything.
The beer selection is solid, with an above-average selection of taps on rotation, many of which are locally sourced. The cocktail menu is possibly the best in the area, in my opinion, between cost, variety, and consistent quality. The ambiance of the bar is fun, but chill, which makes it a nice retreat just off of the University’s main campus to watch a game on Saturday or relax on the patio come Sunday.
Most importantly, the staff are phenomenal and the whole reason why I’m writing this review tonight. I was a regular at the bar – hence why I felt uncomfortable reviewing – but the last several months, life led me to be completely MIA. Tonight, I walked in the door and three of the staff excitedly greeted me by name, instantly. Some of the people have changed but the experience has not – the new manager even came over during a lull to introduce himself to me.
It’s nice to be back at the best kept secret in Iowa City and I think it’s finally time to share it with others. Keep up the good work!

A trip to move our kid into grad school and the hunger of working all afternoon led us to experience this gem. The curb appeal matched the cozy interior of this pub. The seating outside is covered by vines. Dim lighting, leather , and rusted steel beams send out the cozy vibe. The menu hosts an array of comfort foods with variety for each one. Among some good looking appetizers, salads and sandwiches the menu also has different loaded fries, mac and cheese, and hamburgers. I had the Benton burger with house made fries. The blue cheese spread was plentiful and delicious. My grad student had the chicken parm sandwich. My other kid had the fancy fries, with cheese, bacon, and green onions. My wife had the Maynard burger. For dessert we shared a salted carmel brownie and the oreo ice cream cake. The cocktail choices we excellent too. I had a blueberry cider, my daughter ordered a blackberry mojito. To speak of the staff, I have not been in a place where everyone is so genuinely concerned with making the guest experience pleasant. Smiles, great small talk, timeliness and the attention to detail were evident with the two staff we met. This place has already become an Iowa City standard for when we come to visit!
