What an amazing and wonderful surprise to find this hidden gem! Simple yet outstanding preparations of favorites (a nice treat vs. often overly prepared attempts at fancy recipes at some other places). Super fresh ingredients, cooked with unusual care and skill for a small bistro, and very friendly and attentive service. My mom raved about the egg platter with perfectly crispy bacon, and i had one of the best ever oatmeal bowls, which turned out to be tasty and creamy slow-cooked oats, just the right amount of cinnamon, and with fresh fruit artfully arranged on top. The restaurant is clean, bright, and even a touch of hip with a comfortable couch in one corner, and a beautiful outdoor patio. Turns out they also have a nice lunch menu, and are open two nights a week for dinner (serving beer and wine as well). As a low-key but upscale neighborhood bistro, they deserve all five stars! We’ll definitely be back!

OUTSTANDING! The food is incredible. Gluten free bun is outstanding. I’m so impressed with the coffee – Italian style espresso, not sharp or bitter, just full of rich flavor like you are at a cafe in Italy. The decor is modern and clean. I couldn’t be happier to have found this place. Don’t hesitate, go.

Bonus: Outdoor seating is great.

Hudson’s is an adorable hidden gem in Southbury! Many of the locals are familiar with it for their breakfast and lunch, which I definitely want to come back and try, but it’s a sin not to come experience their dinner menu. The chef is fantastic, and their seafood is some of the freshest you can have because they own Southbury Seafood next door! I thought it was great how many gluten-free items they had on the menu – I think they had more than I’ve seen at any other restaurant. The rigatoni must’ve been made with gluten free pasta, because it was specified as gluten free on the menu, but I couldn’t even tell the difference! Every dish, dessert, and drink was phenomenal. I would go back for the hot spiced butter cider alone because it was SO good. I hope to come back soon!

A charming cafe a bit off the beaten path, but worth a detour! I had a truly delicious sandwich (turkey avocado blt) and satisfying and yummy hazelnut latte here. The ingredients in the sandwich were super fresh and of good quality. Service was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I look forward to my next visit!

What a great spot for a casual breakfast. The three-egg Hudson omelette with a side of corned beef hash was cooked to perfection, and the waitstaff were friendly and attentive. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Charming bistro however we were incredibly disappointed with the overpriced and poorly cooked breakfast. I had avocado toast, it was fine. Expensive at $12 but fine. My husband ordered a Greek omelette with a side of bacon and a side of potatoes. The omelette was plain egg with a bunch of ingredients in the middle, not incorporated. Whole olives and whole cherry tomatoes, not chopped. The bacon was undercooked and the potatoes were absolutely atrocious. They were super oily and when you bit into it the top part of the potatoes was mushy and the middle was strangely firm. It honestly seemed like they were made a day or more ago and just microwaved. Absolutely inedible. We returned them and asked for tater tots which the (very nice apologetic) girl forgot to bring us. We both had decaf and the half and half was curdled.
For $42 we are so disappointed. It’s not table service, you order at a counter and seat yourself.
Decor is beautiful however and there’s a lovely vibe. I would come back but just to order a muffin and a tea maybe.

Went on a Friday around 6pm no wait, staff was extremely friendly. The food was good I ordered a small plate as I was passing by and wanted to try them.
We had a yummy cinnamon roll
I had the chorizo flat bread.. I tough It would have small pieces of the chorizo but it was more like a paste, but tasted ok.
My daughter had a grilled cheese and she said ” it was the best grilled cheese I have ever had” she is 9 so def true! But it did look good.
I will try them again.

Went in on a Sunday and had a good latte. Thought we would try their breakfast on Monday (we were staying at the Heritage). Ordered a latte, coffee, avocado toast with a soft fried egg, and breakfast burrito. The toast was a very thin slice of everyday bread that was not toasted and the egg was fried hard and crispy. The breakfast burrito was good. The latte was flavorless and coffee tasted like dirty water. Was disappointed since the day before was much better and had high hopes. Hope it was a one off and they had their normal cooks off since it was a holiday. Not sure I would take another chance. Inconsistency would be my fear.

I was impressed with their breakfast and desserts. They have a ton of choices including many gluten free plates. The staff is super friendly and the food was delicious. I cannot wait to go back. Update: went back this week for dinner yesterday, breakfast and dinner today and will be. Ack tomorrow for breakfast before heading back to NYC

Speaking only of the sit down experience.
Wanted to grab lunch from the falafel place which offers sit down here in the cafe.
Food was atypical and overpriced Middle Eastern.

Medium sized chicken shawarma bowl was $22, but shouldn’t be more than $12.
7 weirdly soft kibble balls were $14 and should be more like $9-10. I’ve had kibbe in many places but this seems to lack bulgur wheat and pine nuts and was soft instead of firm, while shaped in lumps tossed loosely in the fryer instead of balls or ovals.
Overall food was ok but nothing special and rather mediocre and overpriced.
I’ll drive to Watertown for quality middle Eastern instead.
Servers and staff were great on a plus side!
