We ended up at Hubs Pub and Grill in Bonne Terre on our way to Farmington from Festus. Our family was visiting from Hawaii for my daughter’s birthday, and we wanted to get a quick bite for lunch before hitting up Family Fun Center. We found this restaurant online and liked the variety they offered for all of our different tastes. There were customers, but they weren’t overly busy and they were able to accommodate our family of 8 right away. I can’t say how it would be later in the day/evening during a rush though. Everyone really enjoyed the food they ordered. I can’t personally speak for everyone else, but my fried chicken cobb salad was SOOO good, I didn’t want to stop eating even after I felt full. The fried pickle appetizer was really good too and my kids liked their chicken tenders and t-ravs off the kid’s menu. I wish I had gotten pics of all the different dishes everyone ordered! Overall, I was really happy with their food and service, and we will definitely be back.

There was several things to choose from on the menu. It was hard to decide. The service was great. Everyone liked their food. The waitress was a great server and friendly. The only thing I would complain about is they didn’t give my son very many fries with his burger. I ordered a side of fries for $4 and there wasn’t very many on it either. That was a little disappointing. If you were in to sports it would be a good place to watch them. They have lots of TVs. Would go back. Went back and the grilled chicken breast and grilled veggies was delish.

Cozy yet electric atmosphere where there’s always welcoming servers/hosts to get you seated. Perfect level of noise , for a Bar/Pub place to eat. Very reasonable lunch menu prices with food cooked to your specifications. You get a nice laid back feeling being a patron and having great owners( Hubbard’s) is reason this business will be around for years to come.

They gave me no flats, the wings were the dryest pieces of chicken I have ever eaten and I am 100% sure of that. My wife’s chicken tender was a dark greyish color, likely old fry oil. The waitress was nice and offered to have them cook me more wings but we did not have the time to wait and I wouldn’t want anything else from that fryer anyway.

Moving reviews over from Yelp. I hope this place finally got rid of the indoor smoking. Originally published on 4/25/18:
The place across the street had better reviews…but it was closed and the building has a FOR SALE sign hanging off one side.
Thus, I was heading for Hub’s. My needs were pretty simple as all I really wanted for lunch was a burger and fries. Something that didn’t involve a chain/franchise was the order of the day.
I ordered exactly what I intended to get and it came as a lunch combo for $7 with a drink and a side. Iced tea and shoestring fries were my choices. The meal arrived pretty quickly but took long enough that I knew it was cooked to order. Sure enough, the fries were piping hot and the burger certainly would have scalded me if I hadn’t realized that too hot to pick up equaled too hot to eat immediately.
The fries were crispy, salty and delicious. Once the burger tempered a bit it turned out to be quite good as well. I asked for some sauteed onions and added cheddar cheese. The onions were sliced into thin ribbons and the cheddar cheese was the stuff out of the tub as opposed to a slice – certainly my preference but it would have been nice if the waitress had told me in advance. I also would have appreciated advance notice of the $1.50 up-charge.
About the lunchtime ambiance…
The other side of the place is a bar that still allows smoking. I sat as far away as possible and hoped NOT to pick up the stench. This was more along the lines of a 3.5 star place but I rounded down due to the lingering smell.
A table full of teenage girls who objected to the added gratuity based on the size of their party and a slightly squawky baby assured me that I was out of town. FYI for the teens…you need to plan to tip your servers or stick to Mc-whatever for lunch. Getting indignant with the waitress because she didn’t give you the opportunity to serve you for free is a sure sign of bad parenting.

This could be the than speaking but the pulled pork leaves a lot to be desired. The pulled pork is cooked with out seasonings and the silver skin is left on and the pork is poorly trimmed for fat. The bun is toasted but doesn’t add much to the flavorless meat. They do offer a bbq sauce that adds a bit of flavor. The meat is tender just bland. The fries are a toss up between over seasoned or under seasoned most of what I tasted was sugar. The ketchup is very acidic. The mashed potatoes are bland with the skins in the mash. The staff seems to be extremely busy. Overall the place is clean but dim the constant run of multiple tv shows is distracting and the place just seems cramped.

Waited for an hour for food. Appetizer arrived after the food. Appetizer was burnt. The couldn’t get food out at a reasonable time, “because of a large party”. Took forever to get refills. And we got the wrong refills. Never got any silverware.

I went a couple of times and the bartender Ashley was great. Nice little bar area that is separate from a larger dining area. This location has lots of outdoor seating. The fried pickles were little greasy. The Caesar salad tasted good. I also had a ribeye ordered medium rare it came out medium well and was thin. The waffle fries tastes really good.

Burgers are almost 15 dollars and pretty small, and only come cooked one way because they’re almost certainly frozen patties lol and the pizza was no exaggeration, the worst pizza I’ve ever had. Tasted like a plain tortilla with cheese on it. Service was extremely slow and inattentive.. save some time and money and drive to Farmington for food.

My wife and myself had a nice dinner here this evening. I had the Cuban sandwich and she had the loaded tots with a Margarita. Both were tasty and the Margarita was good. They have a good setup with the bar being separated from the restaurant section. Good service and very friendly even when we stopped in close to their closing. If we had realized the restaurant section closed when they do we wouldn’t have stopped but we are glad we did, they were very accommodating.
