Amazing service, great portions. Our server was very nice, and the staff were very attentive. We ate in the restaurant, which was handicap accessible. They also have a bar that you can access through the restaurant or a separate entrance. Super amazing bar, much louder seating area than the dining room though. Happy hour is EVERY day, discounts are just on food though. Definitely would recommend stopping by this place for a late lunch or early dinner.

I tried the ham and turkey dish — very delicious — but the experience was elevated by the bartender’s exceptional, flawless service. What surprised me most was how much the building itself adds to the visit. The architecture invites you to pause and look around, with details that give the place character and a sense of history. A memorable stop on every level.

Ronia and Olivia were so attentive, particularly to our infant: from helping get an appropriate high chair, to also giving a sample of their soup for him. We felt very loved and welcomed. The happy hour black bean nachos were tasty! We also split the turkey special which was a flavorful classic! Glad we split the meal since it was a lot of food! They even had a violinist playing beautifully which entertained our little one as well.

I’ve lived in Portland my whole life, and I’ve never heard of this place until today. That said, Hubers is apparently the oldest bar and restaurant in Portland. The interior definitely feels very historic. I’ve walked past this places hundreds of times and never knew it was here. It is slightly hidden though. The menu was great and had quite a number of turkey options which they supposedly are known for so I had to try one. In a word WOW. Easily the best turkey I’ve ever had. Tender flavorful and delicious. I can’t wait to try another option next time. This place is a hidden gem. I ordered Spanish coffee as well which if you come here should as well. The bar tender comes table side and creates a very theatrical drink experience at your table. The food is reasonable priced and yet the service seemed of a higher caliber. I highly recommend this place. I will be back.

Had a pretty uncomfortable time at Huber’s Cafe this past Saturday. I made a reservation a few weeks in advance, and was surprised when we were seated directly behind the hostess stand, arguably the worst spot in the restaurant. The tables were too close together and I spent 3/4 of the meal having to sit extremely close and leaned into the table because the guy behind me was leaning back.

And this was a long time, because our total meal time was two hours. We saw many people be seated and leave before we did while we were there. It’s the holidays, but I had no clue it would be his busy for an early dinner time of 5:00pm. We also had to suffer through the cold breeze coming in from the hallway because people kept leaving the door open.

It’s a very loud space, high ceilings made it impossible to have a conversation. Since we were directly behind the hostess table, we just had the hostesses staring at us and looming nearby, but of course we couldn’t leave any earlier because it took so long to even get our drinks ordered, let alone our dinner and check. And the food was ok, a little lacking on flavor. Our server was super nice, she was the best part. The Spanish coffee makers were also very friendly.

Overall it was really nice to visit a Portland staple, but I don’t know if the ambience is for me since it was so crowded. Maybe it would be better not during the holidays.

Sometimes things are just a classic for a reason. Definitely get the Spanish coffee – you can order it hot or iced.

Spanish coffee ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
– not super alcoholic
– prefer it iced over hot

Half and half ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
– never enjoy thanksgiving food from a resturaunt but we loved it here
– the turkey wasn’t dry, the ham wasn’t chewy
– the sauces were great
– I liked the turkey and my boyfriend liked the ham more

Apple and beet salad ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
– very delicious
– the spinach was fresh and not bitter
– we loved the dressing

I came to Huber’s for the famous Spanish coffee — and to be fair, that was the highlight.

The presentation was super cool, and the mixologist was friendly and skilled.

Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. We ordered the calamari and artichoke dip as appetizers — both were disappointing.

The calamari was rubbery and barely fried, while the artichoke dip had zero flavor and felt like an afterthought.
The atmosphere is dated (which makes sense, given the place has been around since 1870), but not in a charming way. It’s loud, cramped, and packed with older crowds. Tables are so close together you can barely hear the person across from you.

Save your money and your time — I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’re just stopping by for the Spanish coffee show.

Spanish Coffee (iced/hot) is a must. We enjoyed it so much we visited on back-to-back nights during my birthday weekend. Happy hour menu didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended Portland experience!

I went a few months ago for my birthday after hearing about it on KGW around Thanksgiving time. Lived here for years and somehow never heard of Huber’s. BIG MISTAKE! Where have you been all my life, Huber’s?!

From the atmosphere to the customer service to the AMAZING food, and equally amazing over the top Spanish Coffee, Huber’s knocks it out of the park.

My wife ordered the Turkey Cream Cheese and Cranberry Sandwich, and I ordered the Half and Half which is one part turkey with gravy and one part ham. My dish also came with a side of mashed potatoes with gravy.

The turkey was so unbelievably tender and the ham practically melted in my mouth. At some point I knew I was getting full but I did not care at all. Nope. I could’ve ate more. I’m sure I could’ve found room for it somewhere in my tummy.

In between dinner and dessert my wife ordered herself a Spanish Coffee. If you’ve seen the various videos here, yes, a bartender does come out and personally make one in front of you. They also light it on fire. It’s such a nice touch. And it is every bit delicious as it looks.

After our fantastic dinner we had ourselves from scratch made house Pumpkin Pie. Like everything else that night – perfect! It truly topped off one of the best meals, one of the best dining experiences ever.

I’ve heard everything here is as local and fresh as it gets, and it truly shows. I can see why they have been around since 1879. Never ever change Huber’s. EVER!

Will recommend to everyone I know.

HUBERS is a delightful restaurant and the oldest restaurant and bar
in downtown Portland.
It’s beautiful inside and has so much history, you can feel it when you walk in!
By the way, HUBERS serves THE BEST freshest Willapa Bay Oysters I have ever HAD!
Even the tarter sauce is authentic!
(I KNOW they are known for their delicious year round turkey dinner AND the extraordinary flaming Spanish coffee show.)
However, for me, the amazing onion rings with REAL ranch dressing and a plate of PERFECTLY prepared oysters with real tarter sauce,
is my dream dish!

JAMES K. LOUIE ,PRESIDENT of HUBERS made a surprise visit to our table and was so gracious and warm and friendly.
He gifted my dear friend Dr. Sandra K. Burns and I
a lovely slice of a new dessert he is adding to his extensive dessert menu.
Limoncello Tiramisu!
THIS is a fresh elevated Tiramisu with lemon curd and limoncello soaked lady fingers
( Limoncello is an Italian lemon flavored liquor)
…topped with that elegant Chantilly Cream …a wonderful light way to end the perfect meal!

Thank you James K. Louie,
Molly, Michael, and Mike
and
the CHEF,
who prepared our food with an ingredient that no one can buy….

LOVE ❤️

It’s still owned by the Louie family I believe.
