Reviews
from Huang House.
The chicken and beef were the worst part – cheap cuts with heavy velveting created a disgusting mushy, gelatinous texture. We could barely eat it and threw out most of both dishes, finishing less than a quarter of the Happy Family and Mongolian Beef.
The hot and sour soup was another letdown: bland, flat broth with no bamboo shoots or wood ear mushrooms. It had celery, a mystery protein-like ingredient, and raw mushrooms tossed in last-minute (uncooked and unpleasantly spongy),
Positives were few: shrimp was fresh and flavorful, vegetables were fresh and crisp plentiful.
Sauces were bland, fake crab unnecessary, and tiny bay scallops added nothing.
Overall, wasteful and unsatisfying – won’t return. 1.5/5 stars.
Get some real meat from a local butcher and don’t pre-treat it, just cook it!
The food was so great! I’m always on the hunt for great Chinese food for the last 15 years since my favorite place closed in Lansing. They have GOVERNOR”S chicken here, not General’s chicken! I haven’t found anyone serving it in 15 years!
We shared the meal with about 12 people and everyone LOVED the food! We had some well-traveled, experienced eaters who said the Lo Mein was the best they’ve had. It was so flavorful and the noodles were large.
The fried rice was tasty and soft. It wasn’t hard at all. There was so much chicken in it, I was surprised at how much they included!
The orange chicken was so flavorful without being overly spicy. It was just right. It had a great crunch to it and it was so delicious.
The beef and broccoli was savory and the broccoli was tender and delicious!
They also included white rice which was unexpected, but it was so tender and fluffy!
The egg rolls were good and had a strong flavor profile. They are small in size, but tasty and they have a great wrapper to them. They have a good crunch to them. I do wish they were bigger and had meat in them, but I did like them nonetheless.
The governor’s chicken was just right, it was so delicious and sweet. YUM!
I was so glad to try their restaurant and I will happily be a lifetime customer, yum yum yum!
We ordered 2 smoothies — both said fresh fruit but were definitely not, overly sweet and tastes artificial.
Ordered dumplings — they were small and mediocre.
Crab Rangoon — flavorful filling but not stuffed enough
Mongolian beef was extremely chewy, did have a good kick not enough beef either
Orange chicken — probably best dish.
Overall would spend some time with kitchen staff improving quality.
Hopefully it improves. Local businesses are important for our economy.
We love to support local businesses and I truly wish I could have given a given good review for this one.
