We had a fantastic meal here. We started with the caviar tater tots and pork belly. The tater tots were perfectly crispy and salty with a creamy crème fraiche based sauce. The pork belly was soft and in a surprisingly spicy mole. Then we had the pizza, duck confit angelotti and the scallops. The pizza dough was homemade and incredibly thin. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The angelotti were slightly too al dente for my taste by the arrangement was interesting. Lobster bisque with duck is an interesting combination. We finished with a whisky caramel pudding and chocolate torte, both of which were delicious. We also had some fantastic cocktails including the après ski Negroni. We had a high chair for our baby and they had a sippy cup, but disappointingly there is no changing table in either bathroom.

We had a wonderful dinner at HSL. After many positive referrals, we finally made it in. With a party of 4, we were treated very well from start to finish. One diner with us has a dairy and nut allergy. They were extremely accommodating to the point of pointing out if any other dishes or drinks at the table had allergens in case he would possibly try other dishes. The plating was beautiful, service on point, and above all the food was full of flavor and phenomenal.
We had the Hamachi Crudo, Chicories, Buttermilk Biscuit, Pork Shank, Branzino, Mushroom Bolognese, Chocolate Torte, Whisky Pudding and Black Tea Ice Cream. All of which exceeded any of our expectations. The cocktails were also on point with a couple of us diners opting for roulettes and were not disappointed.
Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience at a price point that matches the quality expected. We absolutely will be back!

5’s all around for HSL! For starters, we came for our anniversary dinner and the whole staff had signed a “happy anniversary” card for us ( ). I was told that this was a great place to get two apps, two sides, and a main to split. While we ended up with two mains anyway, I agree with that review 100% because the entrees are large and there are so many good smalls to try.
Apps to try: beets with citrus and cheese (the dill was a surprisingly strong pairing—loved it), biscuit (maybe as a dessert on account of its syrupy sauce, but it was a table hit… i.e., with our two year old especially).
Pork shank was clearly one of their best and most served dishes. Fell completely off the bone, expertly cooked with a citrusy sauce to complement.
Not sure if Monday’s are always half off burgers but apparently it was a good day to try that one! My husband’s review of it was that the fries were perfectly cooked, sauce was unique and tangy, and burger toppings were fresh; but the bun was crumbling-apart-dry unfortunately. There wasn’t anything special to the meat either.
For a high end restaurant where kids are not common, everyone did a great job with ours!

I took a look over at the cook staff regularly and the entire time I was there they looked focused, intense. It showed immensely in the plates. My friend and I had a couple perfectly balanced crafted drinks to start. Our dinners were incredible in texture and taste. They have a good wine list, and Olivia our server was knowledgeable and beautiful. Price point here is higher than normal for me but well worth. We spent about $380 including a $90 wine, 2 craft cocktails, an appetizer and 2 mains, taxes and tip.
I visit SLC 3 times or more a year and I broke from my normal routine to try HSL. We had reservation on a Saurday. I don’t know if it was necessary. I Highly recommend!

HSL provided one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had—truly unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, the greeter was warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. We were seated on the cozy green couch, which was perfect for an intimate conversation with my husband.
The timing of the food was impeccable—each course arrived at just the right moment, allowing us to savor every bite without feeling rushed. Our waiter, Connor, was exceptional. He gave us space to enjoy our meal while staying attentive with water refills and thoughtful recommendations. His knowledge of the menu was outstanding!
The food was absolutely divine. I had the fried chicken and kale salad, both bursting with unique and flavorful ingredients. My husband raved about the beef cheek and hamachi. Every dish was perfectly executed, making it the best dining experience I’ve had in over 15 years.
Thank you, HSL, for turning a night out at an upscale restaurant into a romantic evening to reconnect with my husband. I can’t wait to return for my birthday in February!

Our server, Sam, at HSL was exceptional. He made us feel welcome right away and guided us through the menu in a way that was both helpful and entertaining. His stories about flavor selection and liquor brands added so much to the experience. He was fun, professional, and approachable, and every recommendation he made was spot-on. Truly the best meal and dining experience I’ve ever had.

Parking was pretty easy, but it was a Thursday night. It was a business dinner and we walked right in with our reservation. The food was good. I had the steak which was cooked slightly more raw than I like. The portion sizes of the individual ingredients were a bit small, but they filled the plate.

It’s the second time I’ve been there so I feel like I have at least enough experience to add a review. This most recent time we went with our infant. They were very accommodating to having our infant which I appreciated. The service was great! I loved the pork belly. I could have eaten 20 portions of that dish. The General Tso’s cauliflower was great also. We split the fried chicken. Its crust was great and had a terrific flavor. My only issue was the chicken breast was pretty dry. I did wish it was dark meat but that is just personal preference and nothing specifically wrong with the dish itself. I would recommend HSL to others if they wanted to visit.

Great for girls night! Plenty of seating! Our server Lo was very friendly and provided excellent service! We were a rowdy party of 6 and she remained positive, polite and patient with us! The atmosphere was very relaxed, we were there for 6pm and within the hour the house filled up. We did a round of drinks, apps, shared a bunch of dishes, and finished it with a dessert! Every plate cleaned! All of the other ladies enjoyed themselves as well! And we definitely will be back! Thank you HSL for the great food and drinks!

I’ve been to HSL several times over the last few years. When I’ve gone, I’ve expected to pay a premium but felt good about it knowing the food is high level and the waitstaff are well trained. My most recent visit with brother and fiancé did not live up to previous visits. First, prices appear to have gone up even further to the point of being egregious. $35 for a Manhattan is excessive, high west whiskey notwithstanding. $6 for a lemonade comprising mostly ice is similar. We ordered fried chicken which arrived dry, stringy, and nearly burnt. The shrimp panzanella for $30 or so had not a single detectable particle of shrimp. Still scratching my head over that one. Was there supposed to be shrimp? Was it minced or pulverized? Then, a burger and a tiny pork belly, neither of which I tried. Total bill with tip was ~$200 for four people. No appetizers, no cocktails, no desserts. Again, if the food was excellent, I wouldn’t be writing this, but a $200 bill with mediocre food is a hard pill to swallow. I hope you guys do better.
