Hoy Pan is just such a great place to have on Grosse Ile. The owners are so kind and work tirelessly. The food is so good! Their wonton soup is some of the best ever. The broth is clear and tastes amazing and the wontons are plentiful. The bonus are the fried wonton wrappers that add a crunch as well. We love several combinations but our favorites are sweet and sour chicken, chicken chop suet and Chicken and broccoli. So good every time. Their fried rice is also amazing and we get the pork friend rice as an extra every time. Hoy Pan is the whole package. Great food with the best customer service. Always greeted with a smile and warm hello. The best!

the restaurant was dirty and not maintained with an old antique smell. waited too long to have my order taken, was told it would be 20 minutes for my order and it took 40 to get bland tasteless fried rice and sesame chicken with a burnt tasting thin sauce. will never eat there again and i advise everyone to stay away.

So good, it’s ruined all other Chinese restaurants for me lol. Literally every Chinese restaurant I’ve gone to, I can’t help but compare them to Hoy Pan, and Hoy Pan is better every single time. By far the best Chinese restaurant from Flat Rock to Dearborn Heights. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Every Sunday after church in the late 90’s, my family and I would go to Hoy Pan. My grandparents would get the Vegetables Delight, my mom and dad would always get the Cashew Chicken, and my sister and I would get the sweet & sour chicken. The wonton soup, crab rangoons, egg rolls, and the tea are the best! And, the service has always, always been fantastic. Ann always was so kind to us!

Reasonably good food for a fair price. Service is usually good. They have some bad moments, but they are rare. Not fine/high end dining, but certainly good family dining. Fairly extensive menu with lots of choices. Very good soups too.

This place is the BEST!!!! I drive an hour each way just to get the Spicy Pepper Chicken!!!! NOTHING compares to this excellent dish!!!! Anyone giving this restaurant less than 4 stars SERIOUSLY needs to reevaluate their expectations.
Service = Excellent
Soup = great
Egg rolls = Yum
Spicy pepper chicken = OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!

This is the best Chinese takeout I’ve ever had in my life! Good appetizers, good soups, great entreés! I usually get the garlic chicken when I’m dining in. Triple delight (seafood), Mongolian chicken, and beef & broccoli are good as well!

Another “4 star” downriver restaurant. Food tastes like it was made with sadness and despair. Typical gordon’s food dumped in cheap sauce and microwaved. For change I was handed a half torn bill. The place was dead. In places with real food this would barely make 2 stars. one star for having order correct and another for it being on time. Go to Chicago and taste real food

My family and I found this place on yelp* and decided to check it out, for its fanominal reviews and a pretty good menu. But once we got our food it was terrible. The chef wasn’t there during the whole duration of our dinning experience. The staff should not of had us sit down when there was no chef so that we had to dine on leftover food. I can do that at home, I shouldn’t have to pay for pre-cooked food at a restaurant. Also, after we expressed our displeasure in the meal, the staff did not! Handle it well! She was mad at us ( she has a reason) but not excepting her mistakes was poor management. In the beginning she should of said ‘I’m sorry our chef has left’ instead of having us sit down, and get sick from it. All but one of us threw up including me. I just hope no one has to endure the same thing we did. For, i still believe this place is good, it must be with the reviews. I just hope the owner checks on his staff and makes sure there properly equipped for there position.
Lesson I’ve learned; always ask if the chef is still there when your out late at night.

This is the Number ONE Chinese Restaurant I have ever had the privilege to eat at. Been frequenting this restaurant for over 20 years. Consistent fresh meat, fish and produce only used. I compare Hoi Pan to any other Chinese Restaurant from around the world, and Hoi Pan wins each and every time.

Server was awesome but took forever for her to get our food from kitchen. Temperature inside was unbearably hot, had to complain twice, then they finally turned on the AC. It was high 80s outside. Food was mediocre.
