Howzit Hawaiian Kitchen is a family owned and operated fast casual restaurant with cuisine that represents the melting pot of cultures that is modern day Hawai’i. With family blood lines from Hawaiian, Samoan, Japanese, Filipino, Chamorro and Chinese ancestry, we want to share the wonderful flavors that we experienced growing up in the islands. The word howzit is Hawai’i slang used as a local greeting to family, friends and strangers, because in Hawai’i everyone you meet is ‘ohana (family.) At Howzit Hawaiian Kitchen we treat everyone like ‘ohana (family) and infuse the Aloha spirit of love into every dish and experience.

We came in on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
The chicken katsu’s panko breading was crispy, while the chicken remained incredibly juicy—a balance many larger chains fail to strike.

Highly recommend. Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and was immediately greeted at the door by Alden. He asked it was out first time, how we heard about them, and if we had any questions. His passion for the business and customer service was too notch.
After talking about his family background with Hawaii and Japan, I was excited to try a little bit of everything from the menu. We ordered the Hapa “mix” Plate and Kalbi Short Ribs Plate. Food came out freshly made in large portions. Food was simply amazing. The Mix Plate was a perfect way to try 3 different meats. All 3 meats were very juicy and flavorful. The Kalbi Plate was equally as delicious. I would’ve been happy with any of those meats as my main dish.
Everything was so good, ordered some Spam Musubi, Mochi, Chocolate Haupia Pie, and Pumpkin Crunch to go for dinner. They were a great snack and dessert for later.
I’m definitely coming back soon to try more items from the menu. I highly recommend this place for great food, customer service, and overall experience.

Authentic Hawaiian food! The flavors are fresh and bold , my mother had shrimp for lent and it was amazing. The fried chicken is juicy and crunchy, the bbq chicken has great flavor and char and the pork is soft and tender with the perfect amount of salt. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, I highly recommend to everyone, even a picky eater will enjoy their meal!

I lived on Oahu for a few years, and let me tell you—Howzit Hawaiian Kitchen is the real deal. Finding true Hawaiian flavors in Texas is almost impossible, but this place nails it. Honestly, some of their dishes taste just as good, if not better, than what I’ve had back in Hawaii.
The plate I got was packed with flavor: perfectly grilled meat, crispy chicken, tender shredded pork, fresh greens, and legit mac salad that tastes exactly like the kind you get from local spots on the island. Every bite took me straight back to eating plate lunches on Oahu.
Portions are generous, everything is seasoned perfectly, and you can tell they put real love into the food. If you’re craving authentic Hawaiian food or just want something insanely good, go to Howzit Hawaiian Kitchen. This place is a gem and easily one of my favorite spots now.

POV: girlfriend and I place an order, head over to pick up some din din. We arrive, gentleman at the front is so sweet and welcoming, says the food is about to be plated – say less.
We’re about to leave, say thank you, and the gentleman throws in a Chi-Chi dango mochi, just because – I am in awe and forever grateful.
Gf and I are excited about the haul, so we bust into the mochi on the drive home. WOW!!! The perfect amount of sweetness – not overly sweet, just lets the mochi speak for itself. We couldn’t help ourselves. We open the Spam Musubi – I would do the naughtiest things just to ensure they stay in my life.
Get home; bust into the 3 meat plate to share. I need some time alone with this plate, I don’t even wanna share it with my gf anymore. Only dock to the food is imo, the macaroni is a little mayo heavy for my liking, but personal preference.

My wife and I have eaten at Howzit Hawaiian Kitchen twice in the past week, and we are absolutely blown away. The food is hands down the best meal I’ve had in a long time! I’m officially addicted to the Hapa Mix Plate, it’s incredible. The desserts are just as amazing.
On top of that, the customer service is warm, welcoming, and genuinely inviting. You can tell they care about their food and their guests.

Best Hawaiian food we’ve found in San Antonio so far. Island Mac was good, the chicken both grilled and fried was delicious. The shrimp still had the shells but was still flavorful and so was the dressing on the salad. We both loved the pumpkin crunch cake. Seating is limited as it’s more set up for takeout and didn’t see a bathroom. We’ll be back though because the food was so good.

This was my first visit at this establishment and I was immediately drawn in by the name. The welcoming Aloha spirit that you can feel as soon as you step through the doors is amazing. The staff is incredibly kind, which is such a refreshing experience these days. I ordered the Kalbi Beef Short-Ribs Plate, Garlic Shrimp, Hapa mix Plate and Spam Musubi—all of which were absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot on and truly captured the taste of Hawaiian BBQ. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. On top of the great food, this establishment proudly supports the military, making it an even more special place to visit. A must-try for anyone in the area!

First visit to Howzit. I was excited to have Hawaiian food not too far from us. I ordered at 12 when they opened and I was the first one in line. I didn’t receive my order until 12:35. People we coming in with orders online and leaving before me which was frustrating since I only had one hour for lunch. I found the food to be average and not worth the wait time. Maybe I will give them another try but L and L Hawaiian and Aloha Kitchen are not too far from me.

If you are looking for authentic Hawaiian Style food this is the place! I had the mix plate with Kalbi, BBQ Chicken, and fried chicken! It tasted like home! Probably the best fried chili chicken I’ve ever had! Everything is fresh and made to order and served hot! Alden greeted us as we were finishing our meals to see how everything was! We will definitely recommend!
