Social Profile:

Nestled 2.5 hours from Denver in the heart of Southwest Colorado’s mountains, Salida was once our weekend escape. Drawn by the freedom and community spirit, we made it our home in 2015, bringing Howl to life. Our space includes an AirBnB apartment for visitors seeking a taste of mountain living. Partnering with Denver’s Corvus Coffee, Howl Mercantile & Coffee proudly serves an array of coffee beverages crafted with passion. From our inception, Howl has been a defiant cry against oppression and late-stage capitalism. We envision our space as a sanctuary for artists and makers, providing a platform to support themselves through their craft and passion. Visit us at 130 W 1st St in downtown Salida.

Cannot recommend Howl enough. The coffee is fantastic- lavanilla cold brew when it is warm outside and the harvest latte when it cools down. The selection of cards is unbelievable, always something new when we visit town. They carry a selection of highly curated, top quality clothing items, candles, lotions, books, pins, etc. A dream!!!! Rounding it out, the owners and staff are the best. Super kind, inclusive, warm environment. Great way to shop local, support awesome people and walk away with great coffee and gifts if that’s your thing!

The store is kinda neat. However, on the coffeeshop side of things; the matcha latte was, without a doubt, the worst matcha I’ve ever had. Actually put matcha in it if you’re going to advertise it! Not a fan of paying 5 bucks for a cup of hot milk

THE BEST CUP OF COFFEE, EVER!

I passed through Salida in August on my way from Grand Junction to Texas. And, in doing so, I stopped in for a coffee, just a basic coffee, nothing special, no milk, no sugar, just coffee.

It. Was. AWESOME!

This shop was everything I could dream of, a beautiful mercantile with local goods AND a coffee shop. I may never leave. The coffee was 10/10 we came back twice in one day. Gentleman working was very kind as well.

we were so happy to find this little shop during our stay in salida. the coffee was the best in town by far & we had a great chat with greg, who served us. it also has the best items to shop in the mercantile. we visited from kansas city & saw multiple brands being sold here that are local to KC. such a treat to visit, highly suggest stopping in here & the outpost.

Specialty latte flavor was great. Expensive but you do get a fancy beverage. Cute shop with clothes & things.

Howl Coffee is a total vibe—a grounded, artsy, soul-fueled space that pulls you in and makes you want to stay awhile. I ordered the Palo Santo Latte and holy wow… it’s a must-try. Deep, earthy, comforting, and unlike anything I’ve had before. Pure ritual in a cup.

The staff was super friendly, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. And the apothecary + mercantile area is such a fun bonus. It’s full of locally made creations—herbal goods, art, jewelry, potions—you name it. Every corner of the space invites you to explore and feel inspired.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Howl is one of those places that feeds the soul as much as it does your caffeine cravings.

What a cute little shop in town!! If you’re looking for craft ice cream and delicious coffee and espresso drinks, you should definitely check this place out. They also have a really cute boutique with a whole bunch of knick knacks and things to feast your eyes on. Definitely try the affogato if you haven’t yet! The iced mocha was also incredibly divine – can’t recommend that beverage enough.
