Taco’s we’re soggy. I ordered flour shells but received corn. The cheese dip was runny & the enchiladas tasted terrible. The food is NOT the same as it used to be & after spending $35, I had hoped it would’ve been edible. I was disappointed & ruined date night for me!

Update….on 7/26/2023 @ 6pm we went to eat here. I have never complained about this place cause i love it, but last night my tacos were very soggy. Maybe a one-time thing, but the way management was was not good. Just not the same. The waitress was not attentive either. Tacos are the best, wish more restaurants would cook them like this. And the red chili is fantastic and the burritos are very good. We are from out of town (but I grew up here with Howards) has not changed. My favorite Mexican restaurant and I’ve traveled from Virginia, GA, Texas, California and few other places non is like Howard’s. A must try when visiting Omaha

I’ve been going to Howard’s since I was a baby- so over 50 years. The new owners took over a few years ago and revitalized the environment and the food- thank God. The food is so much better now, returning to the authentic taste and quality once known. The consistency has also improved, though has on occasion been a little off. I suppose that’s to be expected when cooking from scratch and likely with no precise recipes. The best tacos and enchiladas in Omaha.

Food is delicious. I wish chips and salsa were a table staple. Making a reservation was easy and I felt so welcomed when we arrived. It would have been nice to receive some communication about how and where to pay at the end. We were confused but we got it figured out.

Been going here for years. Order take-out every now and then. The last time I ordered take-out I was charged $25!! All I ordered was 2 enchiladas and 2 bowls of chili. These weren’t like super dressed up enchiladas either. I get that prices everywhere are increasing, but WOW!! Food is not that great for overpaying for it!! I miss the old owners.

We wanted Mexican on Saturday and haven’t been to Howard’s for years. I was not impressed. The place smelled “old” like dusty and carpets that need cleaning. Entering from the parking lot involves either tramping up some scary metal stairs that look like they might collapse at any time, or going in the lower door with no idea of where you’ll end up when you go through a dimly lit hallway then upstairs to emerge in the middle of the dining area, or if you are disabled you park on the south side of the building and walk up the hill to the front door. Hubby has heart issues so none of these options were terrific. Going down the outside stairs when we left the kitchen door was propped wide open. I get the need for ventilation, but pretty sure this also lets in the flies…

We both ordered the enchiladas and shared a dessert so our food experience was limited. We did like how saucy it was. Food was good.

I grew up going to Howard’s and love it. After going back after a few years, I realize it’s a bit run down but the food….still as good as ever. Keep it up, Howie.

I’ve been going to Howard’s since I was 12. I’m 46 now and the food still tastes as good as the first time. Friday and Saturday evenings are highly recommended. The 1A selection on the menu is my favorite and pretty much the only thing I’ve ever ordered, oh yeah and the bean dip with mixed chips are the only 2 things I’ve ever ordered. I love this place!
