Tried out @houseofpies today, started off with some really good house made chips, i got a philly cheese wit fries, and @disneywife_life got a big house burger, she said it was excellent, and my sandwich was amazing. We followed it up by sharing a slice of lemon meringue pie, and Bavarian chocolate with banana cream pie, and i honestly don’t know which was better, the Bavarian was light and fluffy with lots of banana, and the meringue was perfect, and lemon flavor on point, both crust were buttery and flaky. Staff was friendly, our server was a little inattentive, but friendly, definitely worth stopping in and checking out.

The waiter ignored us and we waited about 45 min before he came back to help us take our order. The atmosphere is a great location and they have an astounding menu options. But the service was not the best to be honest it could have been better. There wasn’t that many people at house of pies.

As a foodie and a local tour guide who regularly takes clients out to experience classic spots, I was genuinely disappointed by my first-ever visit to House of Pies—not because of the food alone, but mainly because of the service, which completely overshadowed the experience.

I came here with a client, excited to finally check this place off my list. House of Pies has a strong reputation and is often mentioned as a go-to comfort food and dessert destination, so expectations were reasonably high. Unfortunately, from the moment we were seated, the service felt careless and unwelcoming.

Our waiter was inattentive and disengaged. We waited an unusually long time just to be acknowledged, and once our order was taken, communication was almost nonexistent. Basic check-ins never happened—no follow-up to see if the food was okay, no drink refills unless we flagged someone down, and no sense of urgency or professionalism. As someone responsible for a client’s experience, that lack of care reflects poorly, especially when this was my first time bringing someone here.

From a tour guide perspective, service matters just as much as food. People come to places like House of Pies not only for the nostalgia and comfort dishes but also for the experience. When the service feels rushed, dismissive, or uninterested, it makes it very hard to recommend—especially to visitors or clients who expect hospitality.

The food itself was decent and showed potential, but it wasn’t enough to make up for how poorly we were treated. Dining out should feel welcoming, especially at an establishment with such a long-standing name. First impressions matter, and sadly, this one missed the mark.

I truly hope management takes service more seriously, because with better-trained and more attentive staff, this place could live up to the reputation people talk about. As it stands now, I’d hesitate to bring clients or recommend House of Pies based on this experience alone.

Honest feedback from someone who eats out often and guides others through the city—service can make or break a restaurant, and unfortunately, it did here.

I came in with a client and ordered the half-pound classic burger, expecting a hot, fresh, made-to-order meal—especially after the long wait. When you wait that long, anticipation naturally builds, and I was genuinely excited to finally dig in. Sadly, that excitement disappeared almost immediately.

The burger arrived cold, not warm or freshly cooked, but noticeably cold, as if it had been sitting out for a while. The fries were also cold and lacked that fresh, crispy texture you expect from a classic diner-style spot. A half-pound burger should arrive hot, juicy, and satisfying, but instead it felt rushed and careless, which was extremely disappointing after such a long wait.

From a foodie perspective, temperature and freshness are non-negotiable. Even a simple burger can be excellent when done right—but when it’s served cold, it completely takes away from the experience. Combined with the already inattentive service, there was no recovery moment where the staff checked in or offered to correct the issue.

From a tour guide standpoint, this is tough. When you’re hosting a client, you rely on restaurants to deliver a solid experience. Between the excessive waiting, lack of service or help.

House of Pies has a strong name and a long history, which makes this experience even more disappointing. With better service and attention to food quality—especially serving meals hot and fresh—this could be a great spot. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I can’t confidently recommend it, especially to visitors or clients.

I hope management takes feedback like this seriously, because service and food quality should match the reputation this place carries.

I just want to take a moment to recognize Steven, the manager at House of Pies. From the very first time we walked in, he’s treated us like family.

Steven always greets us with a smile, remembers what we like, and makes sure we’re taken care of right away. It’s rare to see a manager who is this attentive and genuinely invested in both the customers and the business. You can tell he takes pride in what he does.

The experience here isn’t just about the food — it’s about how you’re treated. Because of Steven, we keep coming back. He sets the tone for the whole place and makes it feel welcoming every single time.

Classic diner vibes. Blueberry pancakes were very good. Turkey club and sweet potato fries were, the club was a little heavy on the bread for me so I removed the middle layer of bread. Good service and parking lot although it was full so had to pay $10 to park in the lot next door.

Wonderful service from Victoria and the rest of the staff. She was the most attentive waiter I think I’ve ever had in my life! The food was excellent and I just loved the atmosphere. It was my first time visiting and I will definitely be back!

visited this restaurant about a year ago and had a great experience — the food was delicious, which is why I decided to come back.

Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was very disappointing. The chicken was burnt and dry. The coleslaw was unusual and unpleasant — it tasted like leftover, not-fresh cabbage.

Throughout the meal, the service never checked whether everything was okay. When it came time to pay, the server simply walked away without saying a word.

Such a shame…….

I came to the place because I saw their instagram and I checked their menu and the prices were great. I hop on the bus, took 2 hours and when I arrived, the prices had doubled it. So the restaurant does Bait and Switch. lol never going back again.

I was seriously debating whether to upload this review. I travel and I do reviews of cool places. So whenever I see a Dinner style place I feel the call of home made comfort food draw me in!!! I’ve also been on a calorie deficit and decided I’d use my off day to eat one large meal as a “me time” lunch date. I passed this place so many times over the last year and I decided I’d try it!

So I thought I’d ordaer a turkey dinner! Like make me feel like home! And a slice of key lime pie! That’s sensible right!

It came with a cup of soup/salad (chicken and rice was my choice!!!) and two sides (mashed potatoes, brown gravy, corn, cranberry sauce) yummm!!

Wrong! Unfortunately I felt like I got a very expensive tv dinner!!!! For starters the rice in the soup was mushy and over cooked. The turkey was like lunch meat or maybe turkey from the HOrmel heat em up box from the freezer aisle. Mashed potatoes were watery, corn was not crisp it was like goey so idk if it was reheated or over cooked idk!

I don’t send food back I just bare with it. The gravy was definitely from the jar. Nothing homemade about it

Where a homemade turkey dinner would likely be 800-1000 calories with turkey, gravy mashed and corn …. This was likely obscene. I could not eat anything else the rest of the day because I have no idea where this came from.

I ordered the key lime pie and it was great although the slice was pretty small for 8 dollars this is my biggest complaint. And service was absolutely great! I’d just be very cautious of what you want vs what you order.
