I adore this restaurant. I have never had bad food and used to eat here every week for lunch when I worked in Sun Prairie. Now I drive from Madison when I need my American Chinese fix. Lunch prices are a steal and the portions still leave leftovers (for me). But I’m happy with the dinner menu & prices too. You can almost always get a table and service is fast; this place is my favorite.

Love this place. It’s a small female owned restaurant. I love the crab rangoon(ordering off list for this item), pot stickers, and shrimp lettuce wraps. I enjoy the shrimp dishes but you have to be careful on your fried items. On occasion we have run into a little overcooked pieces but since I come here quite often, it’s but a rare occurrence. My father loves this place and wants to frequent it every chance he’s in town.

Food was a step up in quality from most Chinese restaurants. Even the fortune cookies were better quality. I didn’t know they got any better. Prices were about the same as other restaurants; $7-$9 for a meal. Portions were pretty generous. Only downside to my visit was it took awhile (5-10 minutes) before the waitress got to us even though there didn’t seem to be that many people, but then again it was only one waitress and I suspect one cook in the back. Waitress was very nice. Now if only House of Mei was more visible. It can be easy to miss driving by.

I have gotten food here many times and it was always very good. However, I was so disappointed last night. I ordered chicken with cashews which I had many times before. I don’t know what kind of meat was in my dish, but it wasn’t chicken. Some pieces had a real strange skin on it. I picked out all of the meat and did not eat, which meant about half my order. The sauce was tasty, but . . . A new cook? Very, very disappointed from what it used to be!

The best Chinese food! Make all their sauces – the cherry-based sweet and sour sauce is awesome. Great garlic green beans, crispy spring rolls, dumplings, chow fun, soups. Always nice people and great service. Beats any place in Madison.

Below average chinese food but about average for the area. Tried 3 main dishes I can’t recommend. Hot and Sour Soup and Dumpling Soup were very good. Crab Rangoon was ok but wasn’t served hot. Seems like the core/focus of the business is take-out and they aren’t staffed to handle more than that.

I am so sad we are JUST finding this place! We love Chinese and this is the best we have ever had! The food is great, portions are large and can get 2 or 3 meals out of each. And they deliver fast and hot!!! Will be back for sure!

House of Mei in Sun Prairie used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I ordered for pick up yesterday and was disappointed. Somehow, they didn’t taste as good as it used to be. Everything was bland and didn’t smell fresh. I wonder if they have a different cook. Now I am not sure if I want to go back. Saturday 7/21/2016.

Me and my husband are more impressed with sit down places rather than the carry out small shops. Usually better quality food and a nicer environment. We found house of mei in sun Prarie after a long search of a good Chinese place anywhere in Madison and have found our new every week pit stop :). We love the rice, lo mein, soups, and especially the sesame and general Taos chicken. Such a huge portion they give you, easily two meals. Love this place, the familiar waiter is friendly and is happy to serve. We bring friends from out of town here when we can.
