I come here almost every weekday for lunch. They have a great deal for business lunches with generous portions plus tea, soup and a fortune cookie. I mean what else can you wish for just $12 ? Very quick service and friendly staff. This place is owned by Koreans and you can see a lot of Koreans coming here too which is a good sign.

I’ve visited this place with my family several times now, but I’m just getting around to writing a review.
I was surprised and happy to see the name “Heungrae-gak,” as it’s the same name as a restaurant I used to frequent in La Crescenta.
Pulling into the parking lot, I was shocked again by the building’s exterior. It looked so old and run-down, almost like a movie set, that I wondered if it was even open.
But when I opened the door, I was in for another surprise. Even during a weekday lunch, almost all the tables were full.
The biggest surprises were the great taste, excellent value, and the fact that they’ve added Korean dishes to the menu.
That day, we ordered the Pork Bulgogi and Soft Tofu Stew (Sundubu). While it wasn’t exactly like the food in LA’s Koreatown, it was still incredibly delicious.
The sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk) here is especially good. I’m a “dip it” person (찍먹), and it’s perfect that way. Highly recommend!

The most disgusting Chinese food I ever had. The chicken had a funky smell the rice was dry no flavor. I do not understand how this place stays in business. Shameful put your cooks in a school training program or hire someone that can cook.

My husband and I had lunch at House of Joy, a Chinese restaurant that also serves sushi and Japanese food. We shared the #4 Eggplant with Hot Garlic Sauce and the #6 Shrimp with Hot Garlic Sauce.
The food was okay, nothing spectacular, but decent for a casual lunch. Service was fine, and it’s an option if you’re in the area, but not something we’d go out of our way for.

If you’re in the high desert, definitely a good place to go for Asian food. Sushi rolls are delicious, so is the house of joy fried rice and the orange chicken. Friendly customer service. Just kind of slow with the orders.

House of Joy is a classic Chinese restaurant like what you see in a Hollywood film or one you may have visited growing up. It reminds me of some of the local places available to us growing up in West L. A. near China Town. The ingredients are fresh, the sauces are unique but not far from traditional flavors and the dishes they offer will certainly meet your expectations. They serve up all the classics and a variety of house items like Peking wings, House of Joy chicken and many others. The portions are generous, the wait staff is very attentive and prices are reasonable. Pay House of Joy a visit and enjoy some good Chinese cuisine.

My husband and I stopped by here tonight to pick up some food and it was all delicious. We have been coming to this place for years. He told the chef I have a shellfish allergy but he wanted a sushi roll and the chef made us a delicious roll with spicy tuna and salmon. I was very happy with our food & experience tonight.

Good Food. They didn’t have teriyaki chicken, they said the closest they had was House Of Joy Chicken. We got that and it was pretty good. My kids devoured the food. We don’t like peas and they were able to make the rice with no peas. Orange chicken was just okay. But the chow mein and Fried Rice and HOJ chicken was really good.

Friendly service, although they were short staffed. I ordered the mixed seafood plate off of the lunch menu. It came with tea, soup of the day (it was egg drop soup), rice, an egg roll and a wonton. The portion size was huge. In fact no one in our party was able to finish their dish- the waitress gave us ‘boxes’ to take left over food home.
I thought the price was more than reasonable and the food was good. It wasn’t the best I had nor was it the worst.
