I got the chicjen lo mein and fried rice which I have gotten in the past. It was awful. Thete was no color or flavor. The noodles left a funny feeling in my mouth and there was an after taste that reminded me of wet dog. The only good thing was that the lady who took my order was very polite.

Finally got to try this place out. I don’t know whose house of joy this is, but it certainly wasn’t ours or our stomachs, which staged their own revolt a few bites in. The fried rice was so dry it felt like it was uncooked. It lacked color, flavor, vegetables… It was awful. The sweet and sour chicken had that “next day cooked” chicken poultry taste, and thankfully I didn’t eat more than 2 pieces of it. The sweet and sour sauce was a gummy red sauce with absolutely no flavor.— Red food dye is not a flavor. My wife had the sesame beef and it too was lackluster, tho still better than my sweet and sour chicken, and the spring roll was wet…. how is something fried, wet? Paid 23$, and the only thing decent was the wonton soup and the fortune cookie. Even the water tasted weird.

I was greeted when I first came in the door. Ordered to go. The egg roll was a little hard but the Lemon Chicken was excellent.

We went at 4pm on a Friday and thought the place looked very nice so we were looking forward to a nice early dinner. The food (both plates) were lukewarm, the fried rice was dry and the garlic sauce had no flavor. The cashew chicken also didn’t have flavor. We ate very little and we’re waiting for the server to come back so we could tell him, but he didn’t come back to check on us (we were the only 2 guests in the whole restaurant). When we finally got his attention we told him the food was lukewarm and he offered to heat it up or remake it but at that point I wasn’t convinced it would make a difference and had waited so long we just wanted to leave. I asked if he could make an adjustment to the bill and all the owner would do is take off $5 off the total even though we didn’t eat the food. Terrible experience with the food and management. Won’t be back!

Food: The food was delivered so fast and had a generous amount of serving. The taste was not much it’s somehow bland. The soup was better than the main course. Giving 2 stars for the food as after we dine in here I felt sick and starting feel uneasy in my stomach.

The location is a bit hidden from the bandera rd, but there is a fine establishment in the shopping center serving some awesome chinese food! The food is delicious!! Our waitress was friendly and welcoming. The steamed dumplings were fresh and full of flavor. The shrimp fried rice had large shrimp and was a large serving. The egg rolls and spring rolls were tasty as well. The egg drop soup was spot on! This will be my new favorite place for traditional chinese food!! I dont have pictures because I ate it all so fast.

Extremely clean, from the white table linens, and the walls to the floor everything was clean. It’s a calm soothing place to dine in. Service was really great and prices were very affordable. Food was really good, I really enjoyed the wonton soup.

My first impression of the House of Joy was very good. The restuarant is very clean, well decorated and convenient. The prices are reasonable for food and amount they offer. The lunch specials were great with good prices. From sesame chicken to beef lo meun they got it all. You should come by with friends and family and you won’t be disappointed. Good place for lunch and dinner. Highly Recommended!!!
