Reviews
I visited House of India and was extremely disappointed by the behavior and service. The staff, who are also brown like us, treated us very differently from foreign (non-brown) customers. They were polite and attentive to them but dismissive and unkind toward us.
It was hurtful to experience such discrimination in a place that should make everyone feel welcome. I hope the management takes this seriously and trains the staff to treat all guests equally and with respect.
We visited with our child, and the moment we entered, there was a very strong and unpleasant smell inside.
What upset us most was the new owner’s behavior. When we said we would take the order to go, he made an unnecessary and rude comment even though our kid was just quietly sitting and not doing anything wrong. He also made an inappropriate remark in Hindi, which I did not hear at the moment otherwise, I would have addressed it immediately.
Funnily enough it has happened with other families we know as well
This kind of attitude towards customers, especially families, is unacceptable. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and it’s disappointing to see how much the atmosphere and hospitality have declined under the new management
I recently visited House of India in Jena for the second time, and I’m beyond impressed. The moment I walked in, the owner recognized me from my first visit — such a warm and personal touch!
The food is absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors that truly remind me of home. As an Indian, I can say with confidence that their dishes capture the real taste of India perfectly. Every bite was a delight.
The service is top-notch… friendly, attentive, and welcoming. You feel genuinely cared for here, not just served.
This place has quickly become my go-to for authentic Indian cuisine in Jena. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants an unforgettable dining experience!✨️✨️
I have already been twice within a month of it’s opening and we love the flavors and textures. It’s nearly close to authentic Indian food.
Some extra liquor was also served.
The staff are friendly and welcoming they even remembered me on my second visit, which was a nice touch. The place itself is cozy, not too fancy, but comfortable enough to sit and enjoy a meal.
Prices are fair for the quality, though it can feel a bit on the higher side if you order a lot of extras. I’d definitely recommend it for dinner with friends or a takeaway night. Only thing I’d note is that if you’re planning something time-sensitive (like a big order for an event), I’d double-check timing in advance.
Overall, great food, good service, and probably the most authentic Indian option you’ll find in Jena.
