This restaurant is wonderful. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is nice, particularly the lighting. I love their mango lassi so much that i drank the whole thing even when i was recovering from a cold. It was definitely worth getting sick over though. It’s very creamy and refreshing and made me really happy. I also ordered the garlic naan and rogan josh. The garlic naan is to die for and the lamb in the rogan josh is cooked just the way I like it. The portion size of the rogan josh is a bit too much for one person but perfect to share among two people having an awkward meal together. Overall, I would recommend this place if you feel like spending a little extra money to treat yourself.

I ordered chicken vindaloo as take out. People were very friendly. Food was ready in 10 min and even in take out with nice presentation. Great flavor! Fresh ginger, nice spices. They say it’s spicy but for me it was more mild to light spicy, which didn’t change my opinion that it was delicious!

Hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to, at least in Germany. Waiting time can be a bit long but the food is 100% worth it. Definitely coming back again!

Very Disappointing Experience:
I visited House of India and was extremely disappointed by the behavior and service. The staff, who are also brown like us, treated us very differently from foreign (non-brown) customers. They were polite and attentive to them but dismissive and unkind toward us.
It was hurtful to experience such discrimination in a place that should make everyone feel welcome. I hope the management takes this seriously and trains the staff to treat all guests equally and with respect.

We used to really like this restaurant the previous owner was warm, friendly, and the food was good. Unfortunately, our recent experience was extremely disappointing after the ownership change.(the new one : short guy with moustache)

We visited with our child, and the moment we entered, there was a very strong and unpleasant smell inside.

What upset us most was the new owner’s behavior. When we said we would take the order to go, he made an unnecessary and rude comment even though our kid was just quietly sitting and not doing anything wrong. He also made an inappropriate remark in Hindi, which I did not hear at the moment otherwise, I would have addressed it immediately.

Funnily enough it has happened with other families we know as well

This kind of attitude towards customers, especially families, is unacceptable. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and it’s disappointing to see how much the atmosphere and hospitality have declined under the new management

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Outstanding!
I recently visited House of India in Jena for the second time, and I’m beyond impressed. The moment I walked in, the owner recognized me from my first visit — such a warm and personal touch!
The food is absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors that truly remind me of home. As an Indian, I can say with confidence that their dishes capture the real taste of India perfectly. Every bite was a delight.
The service is top-notch… friendly, attentive, and welcoming. You feel genuinely cared for here, not just served.
This place has quickly become my go-to for authentic Indian cuisine in Jena. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants an unforgettable dining experience!✨️✨️

The best go to Indian restaurant in jena. You get what you pay for.

I have already been twice within a month of it’s opening and we love the flavors and textures. It’s nearly close to authentic Indian food.

This family-owned restaurant offers an extensive menu of freshly-prepared foods that are perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and delicious. The service was impeccible; you’re treated like family. The portions were generous and the prices reasonable. This restaurant has plenty of space to accomodate large parties, while at the same time offering smaller tables and booths for a more intimate dining experience. Highly reccommend!

I’ve been to House of India a couple of times now, and it’s definitely one of the better spots in Jena if you’re craving Indian food. The dishes are full of flavor, and they adjust the spice level to what you want, which I really appreciate. The naan is always fresh and the curries taste authentic.

The staff are friendly and welcoming they even remembered me on my second visit, which was a nice touch. The place itself is cozy, not too fancy, but comfortable enough to sit and enjoy a meal.

Prices are fair for the quality, though it can feel a bit on the higher side if you order a lot of extras. I’d definitely recommend it for dinner with friends or a takeaway night. Only thing I’d note is that if you’re planning something time-sensitive (like a big order for an event), I’d double-check timing in advance.

Overall, great food, good service, and probably the most authentic Indian option you’ll find in Jena.
