I found this restaurant on Google, and we stopped in on a Friday night. It was pretty empty, but a good number of takeout orders were coming through.

We ordered an appetizer and a few different entrées—everything was delicious. The lamb biryani was especially good. I’m glad the server suggested I choose medium heat instead of hot because it was spicier than I expected, and medium was perfect.

They brought chickpea crackers and dips when we sat down, and those were also delicious. We really enjoyed chatting with our waitress.

We’ll definitely be back.

Finally got a chance to try this Indian restaurant in my neighborhood and I wasn’t disappointed! They have a lunch special Monday through Thursday for $18 with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Drinks are extra. The veggie option includes a samosa, naan, three mini entrees (chickpeas, spinach paneer, and potatoes/cauliflower), rice, salad, and rice pudding for dessert. They also bring papadum and chutneys to start. It’s a sizeable, filling meal for the price, and I had enough leftover for dinner. They offer a full, but modestly sized, buffet Friday through Sunday. The food was high quality with lots of complex flavors, and not too heavy or greasy like some Indian can be. The service was friendly and attentive, and not overly formal. They had incense burning when I came in, so it smelled wonderful, and they put Baliwood videos on the TV, which was fun. Overall, this seems like a nice, family run restaurant that deserves more visitors!

Iniya was our server. So friendly! Introduced us to chilled appetizer chat papri—garbanzos, rice crisps, tomatoes, onions, spices. Try it! The Punjabi kadi was perfect—-3 spice level is perfect, mildly spiced. Beautiful meat in the butter chicken. Best Mulligatawny soup I’ve ever had. Nice music playing softly and white tablecloths! Give House of India a try!

Absolutely fantastic experience at this restaurant! The biryani was perfectly spiced and flavorful, while the tandoori dishes were juicy, tender, and packed with a smoky aroma that’s hard to beat. We tried several other items, and each one was a culinary delight—clearly prepared with care and authentic flavors.

The service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Nepalese cuisine. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Great first experience at House of India!

Food: For an appetizer we had the vegetable samosas. They came out hot and had excellent flavor. We ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Lamb Biryani for the entrees. The meat used in the Lamb Biryani tasted fresh and was flavorful. The raita that accompanied the biryani was delicious. The Paneer Tikka Masala was perfect! I greatly appreciated them making it not spicy for me. The portion sizes were generous with extra to take home. The garlic naan was warm, fluffy, and perfectly cooked.

Service: Extremely attentive, kind, and polite individuals. They made us feel at home.

Atmosphere: Comfortable booths and warm decor. I enjoyed the relaxing music that was played low so it wasn’t distracting. The restaurant was clean and attractive.

10/10 would return! A great hidden gem in the Columbia area that would be tried.

lunch buffet on a Sunday. $20 a person. service was slow even though restaurant was mostly empty. have to order garlic naan or else they bring out basically pita. chicken tikka masala chicken is canned chicken breast from Costco. tandoori chicken was empty for entire time and had to special order it. would rather pay the extra few dollars and go to chutney next-door for lunch buffet.
