We visited House Boat today and were genuinely blown away. The moment we stepped in, the warm ambience and beautiful décor set the perfect mood — but it was the food and service that truly made the evening unforgettable.
The dishes were incredibly fresh, flavourful, and homely — just like authentic South Indian food should be. Every item we ordered tasted freshly made and full of rich, traditional flavours.
A special shout-out to Vyas, Alina and Sherin (apologies if the spelling isn’t perfect!) for taking such amazing care of us. They were warm, attentive, and made us feel looked after from the moment we arrived. Their service added so much to the experience, and we’re genuinely thankful for their kindness and professionalism.
This place is a true gem in Derby.
We will definitely be visiting again — highly recommended to anyone who loves authentic, comforting South Indian cuisine served with heart. ❤️ ✨

I had a great experience visiting House Boat this weekend and saw why this authentic South-Indian restaurant is making waves. The moment you step in, you are hit with the rich aroma of the country side food that Kerala is known for. The colour pastels and the murals adorning the walls of the restaurant inside are a piece of art. The one that says Kerala to Derby represents home away from home.
My family opted to be seated in the Beer garden which had those majestic theme of classic coastal murals and contemporary interpretations of Hollywood. We started with jumbo Malabar prawns, Apple martini and toddy. But it was the rich and saucy Chicken Kondattam and juicy Lamb chukka that knocked our socks off. Never have I had a starter which made me crave for a second serving anytime before.
We also had the Kallappam, Kappa, Meen Pollichathu, Boatman’s Fish curry and Chicken biriyani which were the right note of spice and taste. The Gulab Jamun with ice-cream was delicious too.

We were recommended by a friend and called today for a late lunch. WOW! The food was incredible. We had chicken lollypops for a starter and another chicken dish, both were spicy and delicious. We then had a thali each which was absolutely beautiful and lots of food. The restaurant is lovely and the service is excellent and very relaxed. It is our new favourite place and we will definitely be back. The prices are very reasonable too, we loved it!

The food was delicious. My no.1 is the beef curry with banana fritters and then the lamb with coconut tapioca. Reasonable price and brilliant service. Aparna, a member of staff, was really friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.

Warm welcome with friendly staff and a peaceful ambiance, perfect for dine in with friends family or colleagues. I had dosa which was quite different from what I usually have or prefer, it seems the restaurant prep is authentic Kerala style, not my preferred taste but it was ok no complaints. Overall I had good experience. Reasonable prices.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Houseboat, Indian Cuisine. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with stunning décor and soft, light music that really sets a lovely atmosphere from the moment you walk in.
The food and drinks were amazing – honestly some of the best we’ve had. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavour. What we ordered was different from what we usually have as we wanted to try something new, and we were blown away by how delicious it all was.
Before ordering, the staff kindly offered to go through the menu with us and explained the dishes really well, which was very helpful. They also explained that most meals are prepared at a medium spice level but can be adjusted to our preference. When we ordered, they checked again how we would like the spice level, which showed great attention to detail.
The portions were so generous that we ended up ordering far more than we could finish! The staff very kindly boxed up the rest for us to take home, which we really appreciated.

Amazing food on a par with Niccos. Better quality for the price though. Attentive service to match; I didn’t even have to ask for another fork after starters they brought one immediately and waitresses asking periodically (but not too often) if everything was ok. The lamb was melt in the mouth just like it should be and the paneer maintaining it’s texture when freshly cooked. I would highly recommend to anyone who likes good quality Indian cuisine at a decent price.

This restaurant is a great place to eat. The service is really good and the staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. They are quick to take orders and bring the food without long waits. Food was beautiful evrything was so tasty. I enjoyed the beef curry so much.

We visited with family for an Onam gathering, and the experience was truly delightful. The Kerala Sadhya was authentic and absolutely delicious — every dish was perfectly prepared. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. They even organized games, which made the celebration even more fun. A big ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ to the entire team for the amazing food, service, and ambiance. Thank you for making our Onam so special!
