I don’t revel in making a bad post. This place was recommended by a local in the sterling pig (see my review on that, highly recommend) and I had high hopes for House.

The location is nice, the building and interior is nice. The presentation was excellent. Everything was hitting on all cylinders! I was excited.

The menu included frou frou items as I expected but much to my excitement they had standard faire too! Whoop!!!

The meals both looked awesome. But that’s when things derailed.

The potatos were dry – I don’t know how else to describe it. Weird and flavorless. The eggs were ok, hard to mess that up, but over all it was a let down. My fiance had a different experience, her eggs benedict were as she put it horrible she took two bites and we had to call it. We talked to the waitress and said she can’t finish this meal it’s terrible. The waitress got rather indignant and told us that she would take 30% off of our meal and it was much to do about getting her to drop my fiance’s meal entirely. I ate mine it wasn’t great but I was willing to pay for it no problem with that but you shouldn’t have to pay for something that was not edible.

There was so many things wrong with her meal it’s hard to explain. I am a huge potato eater and I only ate a quarter of mine because they were just not very good.

The service was subpar and food was not great. I don’t like giving out bad reviews but I wouldn’t go there again.

I decided to try House in Media on this sunny Thursday around 12:30pm. Super cute, small but cozy place with a homie vibe. 2 parties of 2 were checked in before me and the wait was approximately 20 minutes, so I opted to place a to-go order.

I ordered the:

Brisket & Cheddar Skillet – Potato, Slow Braised Beef Brisket, Green Onion, Salsa Verde, Aged White Cheddar and Fried Eggs.

Once I opened the container in my car, I immediately noticed over easy eggs, not fried. There were no green onions in the dish. The potatos were undercooked and very firm. The brisket was tender but not super flavorful and the salsa verde didn’t do much along the lines of lifting the taste. I only ate the brisket. (1.5/5)

I also ordered a half order of the House French Toast – Slowly soaked, Vanilla Bean Brioche French Toast w/real maple syrup.

The French Toast did not disappoint! I definitely tasted the vanilla bean and it was a delight to eat. I just feel $7.75 is steep for half a piece of bread and $14 for the full slice…meh. (4/5)

Overall, I would rate my experience a 3/5.

First time dining here. The place looked very cozy, so I already fell in love with it. I got the triple threat specialty sandwich and it was delicious! I got soup of the day and house fries as well. I loved it all. I highly recommend this place. My friends got the SBLT, half king khan + half he-man. They loved those too!

I love House! Especially their brunch. A great, cozy spot with really good food and nice ambiance inside and outdoors. Highly recommend the Farmhouse Hash for brunch! I add hollandaise sauce and caramelized onion (pictured) and it is one of my favorite meals! Great for groups, couples, families, etc.

WOW! What a delightful brunch. We were so impressed with the creative menu and freshness of the ingredients. Our compliments to the chef- everything was cooked to perfection and so well balanced. My only regret is that I live across the country so can’t come here every weekend… If I were local I’d be a weekly regular in a heartbeat I am celiac and they were very sensitive about my dietary restrictions, and even had a delicious gluten free bread for my meal.

Such a warm and inviting place. The food is delicious and I wish they were closer to home for me. The next time I’m out here I will for sure be coming back!!! I had the brisket skillet and I highly recommend it. The brisket was tender and the salsa was superb !! They even had Gluten Free bread for my celiac girlfriend. A great place for all!

Not great ordered soup and sandwich to go, while the servers were eating Mc Donald’s at the service counter. Not a good first impression should have left. Sandwich was sad- avocado chicken with bacon. The bacon was limp and basically raw. The mystery avocado chicken was a weird texture and soup was bland for $17. I do not recommend
