Good food, good atmosphere great service. Recommend the vegetarian meatballs and the blackened tuna steaks as well as the cheesecake and black velvet. Outside patio/indoor bar and adequate dinning room. Moonlights as a club with Bachatta on Fridays.

Hot Tuna did not disappoint! From the second we walked in we were greeted with a smile and seated near the bar. We came for happy hour and wow… everything we ordered was on point. We started things off with raw oysters, then Rockefeller oysters, shrimp cocktail, buffalo wings, shrimp and mahi tacos, and that cedar planked salmon… absolutely delicious!
Our server wasn’t super enthusiastic, but honestly the rest of the staff made up for it because they were so friendly and attentive. The food though? Amazing. We’ll definitely be back!

Our server Bo was amazing. Courteous and kind. Food was .. lacking luster. The shrimp appetizer was good as was the tuna. Dinner was amazingly under seasoned and therefore bland. I will come back once more to try burgers and hope for better seasoning.

We were here to show our support to a family member recent diagnosis of breast cancer. We were seated immediately and our server Lindsay was amazing. She explained the menu very thoroughly and waited on us non stop. The brussels sprouts, shrimps, calamari, nachos, salad and amazing tantalizing drinks were so good. My niece who lives there recommended this spot as one of her favorite happy hour spots.

Mid-week date night! Hot Tuna never disappoints. The food is OUTSTANDING! The appetizers are all amazing & the happy hour menu is fabulous. Oysters Rockafeller is a hit. Our favorite meal is the cedar plank salmon. Swoon-worthy! I’m loving the fire pit tables now that Fall has arrived & the service could not be better. We go often because we know we will always leave happy. Inside is coastal chic with a sexy vibe.

Hot Tuna has been one of my favorite spots in Virginia Beach ever since I was a kid. The food is always fantastic, the atmosphere is fun, and the staff is genuinely awesome. I used to wait tables down the street at ShoreBreak (same owners and management), so I know firsthand how much heart and hard work goes into running their restaurants. They treat people right, and it shows.
Whether you’re grabbing sushi, seafood, or just hanging out for drinks, Hot Tuna never disappoints. Consistent, delicious, and always a good time. Couldn’t recommend it enough 10 out of 10!

7/26/25 – I was invited to attend a birthday dinner that they were able to reserve the backroom. I was shocked to find they only had 1 server for the whole room but she did amazing considering that. Due to us being in the back room it was a different experience than dining in. When we arrived we were greeted for drinks, which we ordered. I order from their special menu and got the peach margarita. I did not taste any peach, just tasted like a regular margarita. It was still good and good amount of liquor. After awhile when everyone finally sat down, we ordered our food. I got the half dozen Rockefellers oysters (which was on the specials menu), and the shrimp tequila tacos blacken style. Food surprisingly came out quick, which I was shocked since there was maybe about 30 of us. The food was excellent. The shrimp taco’s had great flavor and they blacken the shrimp perfect. The meal came with 2 tacos, and a side of rice and beans (black beans). It sounded like you may be able to sub those out with something else, but that is what I had wanted. The Rockefellers were great, no sandiness and great flavor. After dinner, we ended up hanging out for a bit on the outside firepit area which was nice. They had live band that night. I will say be mindful when being outside with the bugs (water bugs). We saw 3 when sitting by the firepit. If you are debating on booking the backroom, it is a good size and it has a separate bathroom. I would love to came back and try some other foods. This spot is also great for night out for drinks/hang. It was quite busy when we left.

Excellent food and customer service. I had the Greek Salad, cod bites, beer shrimp, she crab soup, key lime pie and carrot cake. All delicious eats. Though I like key lime pie to be more tart in taste, it was still a very good eat. The carrot cake is huge and the best you will ever have.

I’ve been here a couple of times and if I’m in the area and I need a strong drink and smooth ambiance, I come here. I love the decor for every holiday season and the drinks are reliably good. The food is decent but I’d tend to order a couple of drinks and maybe an appetizer before I would venture back to ordering a full meal again. They are always busy at the bar so service can be slow and a bit stiff but strong drinks compensate for it all. Overall it’s a solid quick stop after work or a quick meet up spot with friends.

I came here from out of town because my friend always brags about this restaurant. However my experience was horrible at this restaurant. I got there as soon as they opened and they seated us promptly. The service was horrible the waitress seemed like she didn’t want to be bothered with our table. It felt like a bother to ask her for things. Our food came out extremely cold and a lot of other tables got their food before us. Even though we got there at 3 when they opened only 2 people were able to get them. The manager didn’t come to check on us until later when we were close to leaving . The server didn’t get any help from other employees until we were leaving. I got sick the night after leaving this restaurant and it was the only thing I ate all day. I’m hoping this treatment wasn’t because of the color of our skin but I will never return. I hope your experience is better.
