Such a hidden gem! All the food was fresh, aromatic, and not greasy at all. We ordered the quail egg wontons, spicy wontons (not that spicy, don’t let that deter you from ordering, they were fantastic), spring rolls, mango salad, pad Krapow, drunken noodles, fried bananas, and 2 thai iced teas. Which came to about $100 not including tip. Our server was super friendly and gave excellent service, I wish we would have gotten his name to give him a shout out. The highlights were the drunken noodle, pad krapow, and spicy wontons. All had perfectly balanced flavors and overall some of the best thai food we have had in the state!

Ordered the Chicken Pad Thai (1tbspn spicy), Cream Cheese and Kanom Jeen.
Let me tell you, 1tbspn is pretty spicy. Different kind of spicy.
The Chicken Pad Thai was tasty. Ive never really had authentic Pad Thai but the flavor was good. Not a lot of good Pad Thai spots but this is one.
It was sweet but I made mine too spicy to be able to enjoy.
The Cream Cheese was fluffy, I think it was carrot bits inside and very light on cream cheese filling. Light appetizer.
Nice, chill, self serve water and utensils.

Looking for authentic Thai food? Stop searching and go straight to Hot Grainz! Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and packed with just the right amount of spice. They don’t hold back on heat, which I absolutely love. Their spice levels are super customizable—perfect for spice-lovers like me! Plus, the restaurant is gorgeous and very clean.

The food is bold and exotic. The mango and fish sauce pairing is a standout, though some dishes leaned a little too salty. It’s a love it or hate it kind of place. I loved it, but it might be too intense for some!

Most of it was self-service whereby you scan a QR code to order, get your own cultery, water and later pay at the end of the counter. There were no napkins at the cutlery section/counter so we had to request for napkins.

We were disappointed with the Fried Pork Wonton. It was so tough and not crunchy at all that we packed it to go. Bah Mee Moo Daeng tasted so overwhelming with the dark soy sauce which was not to our liking.

On a positive note, the pad thai was well seasoned with a generous portion. The meat of the Khao Kha Moo dish was so tender and flavourful. The curry was good as well.

Overall, price was reasonable and we had a good dining experience.

Got 2 thai boat & panang curry with beef.

Thai Boat is very sour btw, likely due to vinegar? They put in veggies and bean sprouts for you instead of you deciding & picking which veggies. I didn’t have an issue with that but just a heads up as I know some people dont like certain veggies. Due to being too sour, I would not return but it was still good though.

Panang curry is on the pricier side. A bowl for $14 and doesnt even include protein yet so we added beef & small side dish of rice so came altogether as $18. Without the rice it would have still been $17 btw & the amount is not that much. But its still tastes good! Lol.

Service was minimal – its all self service. The waiter did give us a pitcher of water but we still had to get our own cups lol so thought that was weird.

I wouldn’t return since its out of my way but glad I still dropped by to try it out.

The food was sooo good and authentic! I felt like I’d been transported to the streets of Bangkok enjoying food from street vendors. The Sai Krok was soo umami and paired well with the sticky rice. The seafood Pad Kra Pow was bomb and the shrimp and squid were fresh. The Larb Isan checked all the boxes. The quail egg wontons were new to me but satisfying and tasty. And the Tum Pu Pla Ra had good flavorful heat. I loved the Thai music that was playing in the background, it added to the authentic vibes.

I’ve tried many Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities, and Hot Grainz is my favorite by far. The Pad Thai, Khao Man Gai, Pad Kra Pao, and Papaya Salad are all phenomenal. Authentic flavors like these are hard to find up north, and I’m so glad I discovered this hidden gem. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Thai food and don’t mind the self-serve setup.

Hot Grainz is an excellent Thai restaurant that serves delicious Thai and southeast Asian dishes. This is the spot to experience if you’re looking for one of the best Boat Noodles in the Twin Cities.

Inside: It may look tiny on the outside but there is plenty of space inside. Tables were well spaced out from each other. groups of 2-4 people will have no issues getting a table but groups larger than 6 will struggle to find a table. There’s a cute backdrop and even an area where you can pull a curtain to situate yourself from the main floor.

Food: We ordered the Masaman Curry, Boat Noodles and Spicey Wontons. The Masaman curry was delicious; thick and rich in flavors and texture. The potatos were buttery and the chicken was very flavored in the curry. One curry I’d recommend for anyone that is new to trying out a Thai Curry dish. The Boat Noodles were excellent in flavor, sauces, texture and the generous noodles. We’ve tried Boat Noodles from other Thai/Southeast Asian restaurants, and Hot Grainz is one spot that keeps us going back because of the Boat Noodles.

Service was excellent as we got seated quickly. There is a self-serve area to get your utencils, plates, condiments, spoons, forks, chop sticks, and more. Which is nice to have as there could be dishes that need specific utetincils.

Not too many places really made us wanting to come back like Hot Grainz. If there is one spot where you want to experience authentic Thai dishes, Hot Grainz is the spot. Want it extra spicey like how it is made in Thailand, let them know and you can enjoy a real authentic spicey-Thai dish!

Food is fresh and amazing. If you love eating for the flavor, then this is the spot. The hospitality of the servers were amazing. They checked in and ensured we were enjoying our time. Ordering is QR code style or can order on the front kiosk. You pay for the meal while ordering from the QR code to make it easier for you to leave at your convenience after the meal and for staff to focus on serving meals. Very modern! Staff are kind and able to help if confused about their new high tech process Water, utensils, and small plates/bowls are self-serve. Parking was confusing as they all had “permit only” signs, but staff reassured that guests can park anywhere once in the lot area, as long as it’s not overnight parking. Decors were cute! A cute vibey area! And it’s next to an artist loft! Highly recommend!
