Let me tell you, 1tbspn is pretty spicy. Different kind of spicy.
The Chicken Pad Thai was tasty. Ive never really had authentic Pad Thai but the flavor was good. Not a lot of good Pad Thai spots but this is one.
It was sweet but I made mine too spicy to be able to enjoy.
The Cream Cheese was fluffy, I think it was carrot bits inside and very light on cream cheese filling. Light appetizer.
Nice, chill, self serve water and utensils.
We were disappointed with the Fried Pork Wonton. It was so tough and not crunchy at all that we packed it to go. Bah Mee Moo Daeng tasted so overwhelming with the dark soy sauce which was not to our liking.
On a positive note, the pad thai was well seasoned with a generous portion. The meat of the Khao Kha Moo dish was so tender and flavourful. The curry was good as well.
Overall, price was reasonable and we had a good dining experience.
Thai Boat is very sour btw, likely due to vinegar? They put in veggies and bean sprouts for you instead of you deciding & picking which veggies. I didn’t have an issue with that but just a heads up as I know some people dont like certain veggies. Due to being too sour, I would not return but it was still good though.
Panang curry is on the pricier side. A bowl for $14 and doesnt even include protein yet so we added beef & small side dish of rice so came altogether as $18. Without the rice it would have still been $17 btw & the amount is not that much. But its still tastes good! Lol.
Service was minimal – its all self service. The waiter did give us a pitcher of water but we still had to get our own cups lol so thought that was weird.
I wouldn’t return since its out of my way but glad I still dropped by to try it out.
Inside: It may look tiny on the outside but there is plenty of space inside. Tables were well spaced out from each other. groups of 2-4 people will have no issues getting a table but groups larger than 6 will struggle to find a table. There’s a cute backdrop and even an area where you can pull a curtain to situate yourself from the main floor.
Food: We ordered the Masaman Curry, Boat Noodles and Spicey Wontons. The Masaman curry was delicious; thick and rich in flavors and texture. The potatos were buttery and the chicken was very flavored in the curry. One curry I’d recommend for anyone that is new to trying out a Thai Curry dish. The Boat Noodles were excellent in flavor, sauces, texture and the generous noodles. We’ve tried Boat Noodles from other Thai/Southeast Asian restaurants, and Hot Grainz is one spot that keeps us going back because of the Boat Noodles.
Service was excellent as we got seated quickly. There is a self-serve area to get your utencils, plates, condiments, spoons, forks, chop sticks, and more. Which is nice to have as there could be dishes that need specific utetincils.
Not too many places really made us wanting to come back like Hot Grainz. If there is one spot where you want to experience authentic Thai dishes, Hot Grainz is the spot. Want it extra spicey like how it is made in Thailand, let them know and you can enjoy a real authentic spicey-Thai dish!
