Not just your normal hotdog place. The fries are some of the best I have had, they also offer more than just hotdogs, they have fish, chicken and Italian sausage. So anyone should be able to find something.

They’ve gone way downhill on the food. Portions got smaller making it not worth the price. When I pick up doordash orders here it’s always a long wait, often 10+ minutes, they have the worst wait in the entire county. Employees in back always look gross(sweaty) and move at snail pace. I don’t eat here anymore.

Food has definitely changed for the worse. Used to be the best and cheapest place in town to eat 20 years ago. Now, not worth my time to travel there. The fries tasted old and stale, and the chili sauce dog had a spoiled meat taste. Asked for a refund, and left.
Decided to give another try beens I was in the neighborhood. 3/15/25. Service was 3/5 stars due to I ordered extra sauce on my fries, so the one doing the order smarted off that she already added extra sauce. But is was just as dry as the original order with sauce. The place was empty for a Saturday. It was fairly clean other than the restroom needed attention. The sauce wasn’t very good. So I’d probably been better off without the extra sauce. I heard new owner took over. So I guess it’s never going to taste like it once did in the 80’s and 90’s coming through High School and afterwards stopping by for a quick bite and hanging out with friends. Walking in to an empty restaurant should be a sign to run. Needs improvement to bring it back the way it used to be. I’ll hold the hunger until I get back closer to home. Hope to see a once thriving business come back to life someday. The new paint on the building definitely changed the look. Made it more like a family place.

UPDATE: We used to always come here. We were a bit concerned about a year ago with the quality, but we are THRILLED to visit today. What an IMPROVEMENT from our last visit!! The Hot Dog Shoppe is back! New management? New ownership? Not sure, but the manager also told us that they are also going to have live music on Sundays starting Father’s Day 2024 in the afternoon. Take a minute to give this local gem your support again. #hotdogshoppe

Starting going here when I was working in their town. Hot dogs just taste better here! Don’t know why but they do. They always have had great staff and it’s always clean. They have many ways to dress up hot dogs but I go old school with mustard and onions. And even when they are busy( they usually are)! Service is quick. Never disappointed when I go there.

Excellent service, good hometown food. We had the chili-cheese dogs and cheese fries. Ordered the large cheese fries and it was big enough to feed two people, so be sure to just get a regular if only one is eating them. The cheese is not shredded, it is almost like a cheddar cheese sauce. The chili was almost like a sauce too…did not notice any meat in it if there was any. The crew behind the counter provided the best, most friendly service I think I have ever received from anywhere. Overall, the food was tasty and the workers were great, so I would recommend The Hot Dog Shoppe and will be returning someday.

We LOVE The Hot Dog Shoppe!
It was worth the 7+ hour drive back to my childhood hometown to enjoy! We had dinner there the first night and drove some yummy stuff back on our last day. My Mama has Alzheimer’s but I promise you she knew the HDS!
The chili was different, no question. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our cheddar chili dogs and our cheddar chili fries. Thanks for the amazing service!
