I’ve been going to this bagel shop since 1997.
That’s almost 30 years.
I went there as a student.
I went there as a young professional.
Now I still go there with my family.
There’s something special about walking in early in the morning and getting a fresh-out-of-the-oven plain bagel.
Slightly crispy on the outside.
Warm, soft, and perfectly chewy on the inside.
Spread it generously with cream cheese.
And don’t forget the essential pairing —
an ice-cold strawberry Nesquik milk
That’s it.
No fancy brunch.
No complicated menu.
Just a warm plain bagel, cream cheese, and strawberry milk.
For me, that’s the perfect breakfast.
And honestly?
This place makes the best bagels. Period.
When you’ve been coming back for nearly 30 years,
that says everything.

Hot Bagels is an okay local bagel place. The inside is very old and not very sanitary. The workers are on their phones and don’t have the best customer service. Not to mention they don’t have trash cans? at all. Not even outside the store. The bagel was tasty but a little small and not very Jersey. There is nothing on display, so you can’t see topping like cream cheeses, only the register, bagels, a list of the basic bagels (everything, blueberry, plain, poppy,…), and a old school supplies like the fridge. They also have chips and some packaged sweets. The bagel tasted somewhat fresh but with all other factors, it wasn’t worth it.

Bagels are top notch. Been customer over 40 years. However, only bagels. No sandwiches on menu, nor even butter or schmear as an option.

Some of the best hand rolled bagels in NJ. Great crisp crust and wonderfully chewy textured inside. For those that are complaining they do not have a griddle, I believe they have a Kosher certification which means no meat can be served here since they use cream cheese (dairy). This was our go to bagel place when we lived in Fair Lawn, now we live in SC, and we come here to stock up on bagels to take south on every visit to NJ.

Bagels are good but the place is filthy dirty. The walls very dirty. I wonder how this place passes a health inspection. The girl working there have no customer service skills. I hope the owner addresses these issues.

This place is truly a hidden gem. I’ve been coming here for nearly 25 years, and nothing has changed — it still serves the best bagels in the world. The bagels are perfectly balanced, with a crisp exterior and a warm, gooey interior. Even though I’ve moved away, I make it a point to visit almost once a week to enjoy a real Jersey bagel.
