Long-running, no-nonsense pit stop specializing in traditional Jewish-style bagels & coffee.

On Sunday around noon, we went out of our way to try this place. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. We ordered two toasted bagels with cream cheese, scooped out. Neither bagel was toasted, both were barely scooped, and there was very little cream cheese. On top of that, the bagels weren’t sliced evenly- the bottom half didn’t even cover the full bagel. For the extra effort it took to get here, the quality just wasn’t there.

The Hot bagel bakery has been around since I was a kid. They have always had the best bagels and I have now moved 1 hour away. But I will stop in whenever I am in the area for a good fresh bagel. You have to get here in the morning and the lines can be long, but when their bagels are fresh out of the oven they’re the best you will find anywhere around. My go-to is always and everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese and it is top notch here.

Fresh-made warm and wonderful bagels, they really hit the spot on this chilly morning!
The jalapeno cream cheese was especially nice to have on the egg everything bagel.
Our work-dog was also vying for a bite of his own.

This is my favorite bagel spot in all of New Jersey! My recommendation for anyone is to buy any bagel of your choice and a container of cream cheese—they have so many flavors to choose from. Then, take it home, toast the bagel, and spread as much cream cheese as you’d like. That’s my recommendation!
My absolute favorite (and their top bagel) is the “egg everything bagel.” It’s SO heavenly!!
I took off one star for a few reasons: it’s cash only, their toasting and cream cheese aren’t consistent (which is why I recommend doing it yourself at home), and they once gave me the wrong bagel—I asked for an egg everything, but they gave me a plain everything bagel. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the bag until I got home 🙁 That was on me for not checking.
Still, their bagels and cream cheese are excellent quality!

One of the best bagel in the area. The bagel was very soft and fresh. The cream cheese was also delicious. The cashier and workers were friendly and helpful. Only downfall is that is CASH only, so please bring cash. Overall, the cash only things is not a big deal because they have a ATM in front if the store (but unfortunately there is a $2.99 processing fee for using).

Hands down the worst excuse for a bagel shop I’ve ever stepped into. They shut down early whenever they feel like it — imagine driving out of your way only to find the lights off and doors locked. Total clown operation. And when they are open, prepare to get robbed: $2.50 just to spread a paper-thin smear of butter on a bagel that already costs $1.50–$2.00. That’s not customer service, that’s extortion. The staff act like doing their job is a burden, the vibe is depressing, and the food is nothing special. This place doesn’t deserve to exist in a town with real bakeries and real bagels. Avoid at all costs — they’ve officially lost me forever.

Best bagels in Monmouth county. Always fresh, ALWAYS hot, with the perfect balance between chew and crunch. I’m a big fan of the cinnamon raisin. In addition, the staff is super friendly and attentive – especially Nico! He’s a great conversationalist and is very quick with his service!

Disappointing experience. The bagel was tough rather than chewy, and it lacked flavor. I specifically asked twice for it not to be toasted, but it was toasted anyway. It was also cut unevenly. Overall, not what I expected.

I called to order 100 bagels for the morning of my wedding. Individual who answered the phone was incredibly rude about it, saying “absolutely not, no way” before I finished speaking and insisting I could “stop by and hope they had bagels for me”.
It’s fine to not take orders in advance, but you can handle that with a little grace. Jeez.

They are supposed to close at 3pm on Fridays. I arrived at 2:40. Door was locked and I told them I only needed to buy cream cheese and they wouldn’t let me in… the salesgirl smirked and waved “bye” at me.. as if pleased that she wasn’t letting me in. Unpleasant experience.
