Amazing chicken and waffles! The chicken is tender, crispy, and fresh. The waffles are large and perfectly cooked. The gravy is great. Both the savory and sweet options were delicious. Huge portion! Definitely has leftovers to take home.

We stumbled upon this diner and so so glad we did. It is basic in the BEST of ways!
Our breakfast was good and flavorful and most importantly it came out pretty quickly.
They have an extensive drink list as well if you are looking for that with your food as well. Def give this place a try!

I’m posting this review 6 years after having eaten here because the memory is still strong and fills me with regret with some regularity. I was on a day trip from Seattle, just looking to get out of the house because the weather was nice. Stopped by the Horseshoe Cafe for a quick bite of lunch. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and the churro waffle. The churro waffle sounded delicious. I mean a churro and a waffle are essentially close cousins and I was craving something sweet and crunchy. The service was fine and the food came out and looked fine. The sandwich was typical. Upon eating my churro waffle, however, it was really oily, squishy, and almost soggy. I think they dropped it in a fryer that was not up to temp. Rather than send it back, I ate it. It tasted sweet and cinnamony, as expected, but it was so oily. After finishing, I regretted my decision and felt a lingering heaviness in my stomach. To this day I still think of it as one of the grossest things I have ever consumed. I suppose half the blame is on me for accepting something so awful but I didn’t want to raise a stink. It’s just interesting to me that so many years later I still have this “oh gross” sensation every time I think about that horrible waffle. It’s one of the most memorable moments from that day trip, and not in a good way. Maybe it’s unfair to current management to post a negative review so long after the fact but the memory remains and I consider it one of life’s valuable lessons about having a little self respect and some courage to demand better quality. I hope the person who cooked my waffle is long gone from the kitchen and instead is working in an office somewhere far away from food.

It’s been so long since I’ve had food this good. I was not expecting it to blow me away like it did. Got fish and chips, tartar was exactly what I look for, fries were spectacular, fish was perfect. Also got the fried pickles and mozzarella sticks and the fried pickles were close to the best I’ve had.
Stella was holding it down all by herself and doing awesome. Great customer service from Stella and she deserves a raise! Really appreciate that they are open so late too.
10/10, no notes.

We came here to see the place. It was very nice. Everyone one was very nice and the food was very good. The bloody Mary was awesome. We had chicken fried chicken and eggs, and one had chicken and waffles. They were busy but took very good care of us. Yes I would recommend this place. The only downside is trying to find parking.

I absolutely love horse shoe, but I just found out that they add soy to their burger meat. Which is not gluten free. Though I’ve been ordering gluten free bun on my burger they have been serving me gluten this whole time without telling me. until finally a good hearted waiter assured me that the meat was soy filled and that the burger was not gluten free despite them selling a burger bun for a gluten free burger?! Luckily my allergy isn’t as deadly as others and that this information should heavily be related to people affording the food. Maybe try some new training tactics that keep your college student employees involved with the food they are service so they themselves can service the community without giving allergen attacks.

I was expecting lame diner food, as we were only here cause it’s the oldest restaurant.
But the food was great. Even the tots have effort in them with some herbs and something else in there. I got the chicken fried chicken with a side biscuit and it was banging. Flavorful moist chicken breast with a crispy crust.
Queso is passable, but I grew up in Texas so I am pretty biased.

What a big cafe! Definitely has a cozy vibe. Has chilling spots, pool table and bar area. Everything you need is sectioned. Saw this place on a magazine and wanted to come and try it out. We ordered the chicken waffle and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and crispy, and the waffle was fluffy and perfect. We also got the loaded hash brown, it was also crispy and delicious with the filling inside. Our server was very attentive and funny. There’s street parking. Some comments were concerned about homeless people in the area but we didn’t have any issue. Definitely would recommend this place if you are in Bellingham. They kept of old-time vibe, so the washroom and decor reflects that.

Thank you Stella for a kind dining experience. She made me feel like I was eating at home! I had the fish and chips. Chips were perfectly cooked and sweet n salty, yum! The fish was cooked perfectly but nothing remarkable ( kinda bland and mushy meat) Coleslaw was the best. Crunchy and seasoned perfectly.
